When did this thing start about people going home early and schools closing??

I went to primary school from 1979-1985 and literally never had school close because of snow. Secondary from 1985-1990 and it closed once because the boiler broke.

And as for companies closing early, because it's not safe to get home... Ffs, get a fucking grip... It's England, not Norway!!

At school 70/82 and we never closed for snow

One in cheadle already closed tomorrow!

In a previous life I worked for a mortgage company as one of the managers. It snowed one day and half the office didn't show up, spouting such nonsense as 'couldn't get off the drive' 'gridlock' etc. fine, we said. But if you can't get in tomorrow you either take it as an un paid day off or as a days hol. Next day the office was full. Funny that.

Northwest Tonight had Stuart Flinders at Debdale Park, and some kid got him right in the face with a snowball. Don't mess with Gortonians.

I went to Abbey Hey in the fifties...In my day it would have been a brick.......

They must be going soft.....

Just looked out the window for the first time in a couple of hours and it's like a winter wonderland scene in Whalley Range now. It's obviously been snowing heavily since earlier and has settled.
