He isn't in the European squad so can't be on the bench, competely pointless loan. Even if City have written him off, surely you cancel the loan and send him to the championship just to get him in the shop window for a sale?

Perhaps your right, the few times I've heard Stoke mentioned on the radio apart from the red game he's always been talked about positively.
