That's right, I'm a United season ticket holder and I've got a green and gold scarf.

The observation was made on Liverpool's reaming easy home fixtures. That's 15 points guaranteed. How many guaranteed home points do will we get? Wigan, 3 pts. Birmingham, maybe another 3 points. The rest of our home games are not easy and don't offfer a guaranted 3 points. So we need to to beat 3 of these 4 teams at home(United/my team, Villa, Liverpool, Spurs) If we don't then we have to win away, which we haven't dona for most of the season. Right, off to book my European Cup Final flight in May.

I disagree, they haven't had that type of form all season.

But look at the opposition. There's no reason, regardless of form, why Liverpool can't claim 15 points from those 5 fixtures.

Villa are by far our biggest rivals for the CL spot.

maybe in terms of starting XI, but their squad is too small and much like Birmingham they play the same XI week in week out. As we remember last season, that doesn't work.

I don't follow your logic. Is it that Liverpool are a bigger team, thereshould beat Birmingham who have had one of the best defences in the league all season, and are playing very well?

After tonights results, I'm starting to think City now have a realistic chance of finishing 4th.

For myself, finishing 4th is not a prize. It is usually accomplished by playing a level of football that is well short of the standards set by the champions, and apart from a crack at a couple of qualifying games for the champions league, means little else.

Sure, champions league football would be very nice, don't misunderstand me on that point, especially when consideration is given to the quality of player it could attract if qualification is achieved, but that's another thing.

Anyway, looking at the table tonight, City are in a strong position. If we beat Liverpool in the next home league game, our position will be even stronger.

If, and it is a big 'if', we win our games in hand, then we are well clear of Liverpool, and we are snapping at the heels of Arsenal.

Of course there is still a long way to go, and any team that finishes 4th has it's deficiencies, which is why they finish 4th, but I would rather be in our position at the moment than any of our nearest rivals.

The OP said he thinks Liverpool are going to finish 4th. I'm not so sure, because I think we have a better squad than Liverpool, and we are slowly, but steadily, making our mark.

I'm not saying we are going to finish 4th, but I am starting to believe it is possible.

Yeah alright then, Just like Liverpool was favourites for the league last year, they bottled it and they will again, with them f**kin' it up at Arsenal tonight! I mean they aint going to want to run around and play they are all deflated know that nothing is coming to them this year, they didn't play well enough all year, what makes you think that they will all of a sudden get the points that they should on paper!?

Hate to say this but Liverpool will struggle to finish 4th this season,

Hate to say it, yea right.

It is ours to blow now.

a lot of teams liverpool play are fighting for their lives.its not as easy as it looks and will be twice as hard until they get back a fully fit torres.

Forget about Liverpool. If we don't beat our opponents then we don't deserve the CL spot. Its as simple as that

Our destiny is in our hands. We have to seize it ourself.
