Hated Footy Phrases...

"Steeped in History and Tradition", usually referring to either Liverpool or United always makes me laugh.
"He's a typical Tottenham player", regarding a flair player, I heard it all the time about Eriksen.
"They love their number 9's at Newcastle"
"He was looking for it/could have stayed on his feet" - When referring to a penalty.
"He's a luxury player"
"He's got two good feet"
"He's got a great engine"
"The quarter-back role" (i.e Gerrard is playing in the quarter-back role)
"The Claude Makelele role"
 
City fans are naturally pessimistic.

Jamie Jackson of the Guardian has taken to referring to united as the "20-times champions" when he writes about them. In fact, out of interest, I've just searched the Guardian's website, and he's used the phrase in 59 articles. The fucking rag ****.
