A similar heist happened a few years back when another safety deposit box company was raided, less than 25% of the box owners came forward to tell police what their boxes contained
That makes me think that the contents of most deposit boxes are to say the least dodgy and ill gotten

It's got to be an inside job. When you see the size and thickness of the doors and walls to these places, I don't believe it would be possible to get cutting equipment big and powerful enough in through a hole in the outside wall and down a lift shaft.

Now being reported that the big fire last week in the underground power conduits could have been connected to this job, getting the power supply disrupted to the location apparently.

This sort of thing happens quite often on the QT. A friend of the family that was CID but now works as a private detective once told me that a lot of people who have big country houses etc get targeted frequently as they nearly always have a safe at home, they also have a lot more money etc than they should have but obviously as a lot of time this money is there because it can't be banked (for lots of reasons) nothing ever comes of it as they can't really report they have lost 100k as questions will then be asked of them!

Didn't the last heist of this nature uncover some compromising photos ?

Yes the 1971 Baker Street heist [which the film Bank Job with Statham was based on]
widely suspected to be an MI5 operation to get suspected photos / documents relating to the royals but made to look like just another bank raid.
This one sniffs of something very similar to me.

Daily mirror running pictures of the gang during the robbery,seems they made a long weekend of it .one of the robbers should be identified pretty easily from the pictures

The CCTV footage is on the mirror site now.
Nice to see they took heaith and safety seriously with their high viz jackets and hard hats.saved a bit of money taking their tools back with them.they seem to be coming and going in broad daylight all weekend in a door that leads onto the street.
