Have we have got our attitude and a spine of Captains back?

As mad as it sounds, I don’t think we played brilliantly against United. We conceded too many chances and were lucky that they are absolutely shite. We were good to create more chances ourselves - but an absolute mile off how controlled we were in 22/23.

Last night was significantly better, but clearly supported by the early red card.

I don’t think we should be getting giddy after two games. Arsenal will be a real test on Sunday (sorry to be negative, just an honest view).
We conceded possession to Utd in the last 20 minutes. I have seen stats of xG vs time for the Manchester Derby, and their chances come largely towards the end of the game when City had the game won.

The wing areas aren't a problem. In Doku, Bobb and Savinho we have 3 of the top 10 U23 wide attackers in the world. They can only get better. Marmoush is a very good option as well. And Bernardo is needed as a midfielder on the right side who helps us to accommodate Foden at 10 in big games.
Based on the output/contribution from the wing areas over the past 18 months, it is a problem. The three players you mention have potential but that potential needs to be realised at some point, otherwise I'd expect the club will look to strengthen this area in summer 2026.

Doku is hitting good form, let's hope the others can follow and that can be sustained.

I have no worries over Marmoush although he's not really a winger.

I would not describe Napoli as stubborn but limited.

The last 2 home games have been encouraging. There's no denying that. I am expecting a very difficult game at Arsenal.

Where do you get the rejuvenated KDB from? He's 1 year older. He barely touched the ball whilst he was on. I do get the point that we should take encouragement where we find it.
Not my words, the nonsense press narrative that they tried to spin.

So if we dont win at arsenal then we can take no positives, this is what drives me crazy and its the way the press has conditioned our fans to think, when city win its because the other team were poor, when city lose its because the other team is amazing AND because city were poor so whatever way it shakes out city aint very good.

You saw it in the way it was commentated last nite, all in the build up it was how napoli had lost 1 in 25 games, italian champions, tough to beat, incredibly well drilled, rejuvanated kdb etc etc and then the game transpired they had a man sent off due to our good play and then u heard tells us nothing bout city, theyll have much tougher tests than this etc etc, so we couldnt win either way.

Now we may win at arsenal we mite not but we can be positive when we do well and see positive change rather than buying into the negative press driven narrative and waiting for the next reason to have a pop at us.
That's a massive response to something that I didn't actually say.

Try looking again and you'll see that I'm talking about performance and not the result

As for the press narrative I haven't the faintest fucking idea what you're going on about as I was at the game and haven't seen or heard a single comment

Were you?

The past is the past. Several weeks ago some thought Doku is very average.

Also, I posted stats showing Doku's minutes per GA ratio last season was similar to Palmer's. They are young and improvement is expected or even logical to happen.

Erm lets not get too giddy and united are crap (agree with you there) and napoli are stubborn but limited ( 1 defeat in 25 says you were a bit off there) so yeah it responded to what you said that when city win its cos the other teams are poor, i went off on a tangent but the original bit where i said that we can only win cos the other teams are poor is effectively responding to what you said.

Nowt wrong with being stubborn especially when you're down to 10 men against top notch opponents

However,.even with 11, they were obviously trying to spoil and sneak a result

I know they're champions,.but I was actually more impressed with Inter and Juventus last season

I think overreacting to a couple of wins after a quite lengthy dodgy period is much more silly than being rightly cautious. The facts are the facts we have.beaten a rag team that finished just above the relegation zone last season and have won 1 league game this season against Burnley in the 97th min and were beaten by Grimsby.
We also had a good result last night but it was at home to a side with 10 men. The performance was good with that caveat in mind.

The Arsenal.game will tell us so much more than those two games, it's not even close. Do we have to win it? No But we need to play well and look like we can compete against the best. We havent had a great time against the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool, ultimately good sides get good results against other good sides.

We used to bitch slap Arsenal.on a regular basis.

Im not overreacting either way, what im saying is that it is okay to take the positives from those two games without subscribing to the press narrative that we can only be good when the other team is shite.

I'm not interested in talking about press narratives, it's the road to mental ruin bothering with that shite, it will and does drive people potty:-)

Anyhow i was just replying to your post as it was. What we need is a Wow performance, the last two games do not fit into that category imho and there have been some ott giddiness but that's what being a supporter is sometimes.
Let's hope we are very happy indeed after the weekend. I'm holding out for that really good performance in one of those big big games.

Just 108 point left to play for, but
our season could be determined by our games agin arse & dippers.

The Arse and Dippers ain't ripping up any trees, even last seasons football was poor.
At least Pep has begrudgingly adapted to the PLs rougher, route one style of football. Obviously introduced to keep the red tops in contention. You certainly ain't going to get stylish pure football from that lot.
It may take time to get it right, but it looks like we're making a decent start.

Still a bit off but I see where u r coming from. I think the team/squad will grow and gel over the next 2 months with games every 3 days. Rejniders has been good but when he settles he's gonna be another level
Learning the physical, battling side of the game is essential, he looks lightweight in that area currently as does Gonzalez.

Hopefully Nico O' really will grow into that role, he's got great potential
