Have you ever met any really famous Rock/Pop stars?

Met some bloke from the Stone Roses scoring weed from a relative.

I met Malcolm Young from AC/DC at The Lowry Hotel, after their gig at the Arena. I work with John McGovern (ex Forest), and they are close friends.

Had a piss in the bogs at Heaton Park during a Radio One Roadshow in the 80's. As I was finishing Fish walked in and had a piss next to me.

I'm not particularly a fan of his but made polite conversation and he offered me his hand to shake mid piss......

This has inference to DJ's, 80's and toilets but as I didn't shake his hand is a clean story.

Debbie Harry and Blondie in L.A?, and sat next to Shirley Manson on a flight from New York. Her band, Garbage, had appeared on the bit US TV show, Saturday Night Live, the previous night and were on their way to a gig in Phoenix, AZ.

Also, went backstage at a U2 concert, into the hospitality room, but got thrown out before the band came out of their dressing room. Got a flag signed and a handful of drumsticks, but didn't get to meet them.

Paul weller at Piccadilly station 1981, me and a mate had a 10 minute chat with him about the manchester riots that we're happening at the time, Bruce Foxton passed with his girlfriend and shouted 'got yourself some more groupies have we paul', genuinely imbarrassed Weller apologised and said what a tosser he was, think the jam split the next year

Loads, met each member of The Smiths, Oasis and James.
Played football with Rod Stewart.
Met Michael Stipe in San Diego and he was a ****, sadly.
Steve Jones, Billy Duffy and Ian Astbury used to play footy in the same league as me a few years back in Hollywood.
Also met and chatted with Blur, Ian McCullogh and Foo Fighters at a radio station gig.
Gave Mani a lift in L.A.
I know Mark Burgess and I am fairly good mates with David Gedge from The Wedding Present.
Also met Mark E Smith, Paul Ryder, Paul Heaton, Inspiral Carpets, Ice T and Buzzcocks
I'm sure there's a few more, but its late and I'm off to bed.

Got bollocked by howard donalds grandad for retrieving a wayward shot by droylsdenblue, (he should have stuck to being a goalie). from his front garden. Met bilbo baggins top floor lewises while wagging it from school. You can end the thread now.

Howard Donald is my missus's cousin, (the shame...) and their grandad was a miserable rag .....

Met a few over the years. Roger Taylor from Queen, Lemmy, Phil Lynott and all Thin Lizzy a lot back in the day, and Cheap Trick many times .... (always get the round in)

Am proud to say, that on saying to Lynott, that being from Dublin, he was 'bound to be a red', he called me a 'cheeky Blue c*nt' .... :-)

Was on holiday in Antigua in 2009 and Ray Davies of The Kinks was staying there for a couple of nights, with his band.
They'd been booked to do a private gig at a flash hotel a few miles away, for an American millionaire - for his birthday!

Ray and the band were all easy-going, and good to chat to.

On the night of the gig, they were in the bar before setting-off, and Ray asked me if I wanted to go with them. When I explained my complete lack of musical talent, he offered that "I could play the maracas, and just stay out of the way on the stage"

Not wanting to destroy the obviously expensive birthday celebrations, and ruin the reputation of a music-god by having an out-of-rhythm maraca-player murdering classics like Lola and Sunny Afternoon, I declined.

I regret that - I could have officially been the "120th Kink"
