Players can be sent off before they have crossed the touchline. There's no minimum time limit before the mad-eyed whistlers can book someone. The thing that pees me off is the number of matches that are decided by a wholly incorrect decision by people who, even with the best eyesight in the world, make and continue to make a complete bollox of flag waving and whistle blowing. League titles won and lost on the basis of a cock-up, when it's possible to view every ball in the net before the goal is given, should belong to the 19th Century, let alone the 20th or 21st.

It's only a matter of time before every "goal" is reviewed before it's awarded.
The game stops naturally when the ball goes into the net (or supposedly crosses the line) so it would take less than the blink of an eye for the 4th official to review the play and give the ref the thumbs up (like they sometimes do in Rugby).
It wouldn't happen in the States, where they are paranoiod about getting things right (but saying this I'm not sure about MLS, which could come under FIFA regulations!)
Sorry for all tonight's posts - getting near to the magical 100 - but off to bed now (work tomorrow and a big night ahead, thanks to the FA's fixture bias!)
