Hazel Grove Park & Ride

Opened recently behind the Rising Sun. I have a single question. Why?

Because buses can take a lot more people using a lot less road space than under-occupied cars, and so congestion might be reduced.

Most motorists are too poor to buy a commuting specific tiny car, and so they lumber slowly to work and back in slow moving traffic surrounded by three or four empty seats which are only occupied when they take the family out at weekends.

While they choose to commute in these needlessly large and totally unsuitable vehicles they hilariously amuse the rest of us by moaning about how crowded the roads are.

Have you ever travelled by bus into Manchester from Hazel Grove before 10 am or after 4 pm in less than an hour?
If it was near a railway station it would make sense. As it stands there are more cars in the car park of Carpet World.

It is near a railway station mate, which, to me, is the only logical explanation as things stand, because as you rightly say, 'the bus of death' really isn't an option, BUT, I do have it on good authority that in the near future, one lane is going to be for the new electric buses exclusively, so maybe that's why it's in place.

and it's a good 15 min walk to Hazel Grove station . Interesting point on the electric bus lane, any idea when?

15 minutes lol, do you walk in pins mate ? ;-)

Not too sure when it's actually going to happen, within the next few years so nothing immediate, that was from a mate who does the MOT's at Stagecoach etc etc and not a bullshitter.

The scheme will probably fail, and is just another attempt by planners to be seen doing something about congestion, a bit like the useless cycle lanes they painted everywhere.

If people find themselves in slow moving traffic they are as much to blame for it as anyone else in that congestion. There is no reason for public money to be spent on preventing a self-inflicted problem for these motorists, most of whom choose to venture onto our crowded rush hour roads every day with the car seat equivalent of an empty 2 seat sofa and an empty armchair in their vehicle for company.

Our urban roads are too narrow for modern twice daily swarm of 25% occupied cars and they will remain so. Motoring misery is here to stay and will only get worse.

At least a ten minute walk and if you fancy doing that when it's pissing it down, be my guest.
A complete waste of public money if you ask me.

Let's all park at Hazel Grove and wait for the convoy of 3/4 192 buses to all come at once.
