Having watched the video on the OS i noticed we have scored 7 headers so far this season!

Adebayor v Pompey
Tevez v Palace
Richards v Arsenal
Adebayor v Arsenal
Barry v Fulham
Toure v Fulham
Tevez v West ham

I only remember us scoring 1 or 2 headers last season.

Just commenting on something spectacular!

I have been saying it since last season, if we can get a really steady defence and build a very good partnership there is no reason why we can't win the league within the next 2 years. Maybe even this season if we sort our heads out a bit

Feeling like we are going to score when we get a corner. Amazing, not had that since Hinchcliffe left.

Same here, the quality of the corners is much improved.

This is the thing I've been most excited about this season. Instead of being dissapointed when we get a corner I'm excited now because we might actually score!

Aaah yes. The glory days when Barton was taking our free kicks/corners etc. I like to see the players aggresively attacking the ball in the air these days. As people have already stated, being excited about getting a set piece is somewhat alien to me after recent years. If the ball didn't end up in the back of the net directly from the kick, we weren't scoring!

The thing is though, it's not just corners... it's set pieces in general. Tevez v West Ham and Richards v Arsenal were both headers from free kicks, one an inswinger, one an outswinger. The delivery from Bellamy on one side and then Petrov and Barry from the other has been fantastic. And then there's Petrov scoring direct from a free kick v West Ham. Manchester City, the set-piece kings! Who'd have thought it?

It's a natural reaction to clap and encourage your team when you win a corner, but i honestly did not bother doing so last season. I was sat there, perplexed as to what people were expecting to happen! I prefered to save my encouragement for times when i knew my encouragement might actually make a difference. A set-piece was not one of those situations! But now, we are amazing!

I remember a charity game once Man City select XI 0 Rampton Mental Institute 7. All Ramptons goals were scored by headers!...... I'll get my coat.

Must admit, ive started watching corners this season.

Last season I just went for a piss.

This, in a nutshell, explains the changes we are witnessing at City.

Whilst I agree with what you're saying Tricky, it is worth noting that SWP has set up two of the headers including the only one from open play so he too deserves some credit. I think the delivery into the box has improved but also we now have several players who really want to attack the ball.

I have always said we are going for an own goal on corners since we moved from Maine Road.
