Heard something interesting...

Maybe Pellegrinis weakened team for Chelsea is a pep instruction to see how certain youngsters cope?

This is only one of a number of reasons we should all be excited for the next three years - Forget all the negative press, media hype about our club we will see high intensity, young players, great tactics and the odd marquee signing. Hopefully Pep's philosophy will be the blueprint to go alongside the amazing academy we have already. Manuel was/is only a stepping stone. Pep will take us to the level of the three best teams in the world namely Barca, Real and Bayern. One task this year CL qualification, forget the quadruple nonsense.

absolutely this.

Manuel Estiarte is his main man. He actually had no football experience before meeting Pep, he was instead a Olympic Waterpolo Champion and is supposedly a legend in that field. He keeps being given strangely titled jobs from "Head of External Relations" to "Personal Assistant" and loads in between. He seems to be Pep's closest confidant when it comes to how to people manage and he often acts as a media shield, where many people both internal and external to the club (but outside the playing staff) need to speak to him to get to Pep.

It's more a person who can work in his rotational midfield system rather than a ball playing centre back and they generally have to be exceptionally intelligent when it comes to tactical awareness.

Oh yeah I get that, but I imagine any players he selects at this stage will be more used to fill in gaps in the squad & learn stuff rather than be a key player short term, then if he discovers someone exceptional, he'll fast track him. The Spanish kids in centre mid are all potential, then we have to see which of the brits & Irish can step up. Byrne is a decent shout if he works hard.

Re defenders, I think Denayer is potentially perfect for Pep in several roles, but it's going to be down to whether he can sink or swim vs Premier League players. Angelino is still suspect as a defender, but the way he drops in to receive the ball from the keeper & play out etc is bang on & he's a clever & skilled footballer. Then Maffeo is being coached by his brother's mob of course.

Thanks Damocles, haha tbf you are right he does look like a nasty bugger if he wants.
Gonna do a bit of reading and watching on his team, that Barca docu was good but gave no insight into Pep and the detail of his work.

On a side note, i reckon he will do 5 years here and even then maybe do one more year if he feels we need it before moving to national coaching.

One of his crew is called "Torrent" ha, fantastic (funny to a file sharer like me at any rate hehe)

This will be research i enjoy looking into these people.

This is exciting,i can't wait for next season, pity the euro's and another Copa America is happening in the summer to disrupt pre-season

Do be serious. Pep has nothing to do with our team till July
Not officially.

Just thought his muliti asking comment at the Bayern press conference alluded to it?

If the target for the board is only CL qualification. What better way for him to study our younger players than watching a game broadcast worldwide from your own sofa?

Kun,Zabba will be fucked again.

Mind you the Euros could do the same

Also known as the Maradona of water polo, now there's a thought, Maradona playing water polo

As well as Estiarte and Planchart, there's his assistant manager, Domenèc Torrent, and his fitness coach Lorenzo Buenaventura. Those are the four he'll probably bring with him.

Nicknames will be needed as no fucker will be spelling all those correctly on here lol.

Oh good i love a nickname

It was bad enough with Txiki (whatever his surname is) but we now have this lot to contend with as well?

Easy for you as its just the best looking one ;-)

Haha yeah. Planchart was actually in the crowd when we beat them 6-0 a few years back in the UEFA Youth League if I remember correctly.

Not really sure who will be coming out of our youth into a Pep team. With Hojberg and before him Busquets at Barca the obsession with them was based around their ability to consistently find the right pass to fit his style rather than the most attacking or most skillful pass. Nobody particularly stands out to me as that player in our youth teams, I like Byrne for that type of game before he went out on loan and haven't followed him much outside of reading things from @twosips when he mentions him. Know Cambuur are struggling a bit over there.

Watching the Cambuur game now and the commentator just said that based on how we played against Leicester, Byrne should be starting for us now instead of on loan at a relegation threatened side. Out of all our current loans, he's the one who's probably gotten the most experience playing week in and week out.
