Heathrow shut

Does seem weird, surely they must be able to reroute power pretty quickly to such an important national piece of infrastructure?
According to this statement the juice was back on at 3am, so why closed all day??

"Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks said at 12.23am on X that a "widespread power cut" was affecting Hayes, Hounslow and surrounding areas.

However, it estimated it would be "resolved by 3am"

The power going off in your house and coming back on again is a little different I expect.

with all the electrical componets and equipmmet used to run an airport safely I expect extensive safety checks need to be made to ensure there is any vital equipment that has had a powersurge when the power returned and is now faulty.

hundreds of thounsands of people pass through it daily, no airport would risk just turning on the leccy and carrying regardless unchecked.

Whenever we had power surges at Manufacturing plants it caused us weeks of pain. Something doesn’t re-start, fault finding, then catch up is a nightmare.
However I can’t help think there’s more to this, a bit of espionage, message being sent.

Bet its arson and I bet it was Russia that paid for it.
Not having triple - let alone double backup for critical infrastucture just shows what a state the UK is in.

Having just watched first 2 series of Wild Horses (a great watch if haven’t seen it) I’m going for Russian espionage given what is being discussed and led by the UK re-Ukraine.
Either this or the Just Stop Oil loonies who have recently not taken well to the news that Heathrow is to get a third runway.

this is where my head went with it too. if it was the Russian's though they might well have found a flaw that prevented backup systems kicking in. Id like to think there will be backups of some form in place but that might just be for more critical systems rather than the whole place.

There is absolutely no evidence of Russian involvement whatsoever….but I’m with you, seems very odd.

A lot of talk in the media about UK and France pushing ‘militarisation’ of the west…Russia not happy about that they want us to stay ‘toothless’…
