As the title sugests can only start windows in safe mode Anyone care to help

Just come in from work and the missus has been on the comp today I try to go on and i get the blue scrreen of death The only way to start it is in safe mode It dont give me time to read the blue screen before it shuts down

So whe i start in safe mode i get

Widows has recvered from an unexpected shutdown.
Windows can check online for a solution to the prob next time you go online(despite the fact we cannot get online )

Problem details
problem event name blue screen

Files that help describe the problem

C:\Windows\Minidump\081010-21091-01.dmp
C:\Users\syayze\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-403902-0.sysdata.xml

I seem to think it is something to do with Mcafee because when i go into the start menu and try to start Mcafee it states "real time scanning is off"
Click turn on and it just comes back to the same mesage "real time scanning is off"

Any ideas Guys

PS On the daughters laptop at the moment

I Have a similar problem, i have to put it in safe mode (with networking) because if i put it in normal mode it just goes to blank screen then a blue screen comes up with all computer talk on it.

try it on safe mode with networking, you go can go on the internet then. you just cant have sound on or look at pictures etc..... (pretty shit really lol)

Had exactly same problem last week.
It was a virus.
eventually had to go to PCworld and pay £49.99 for a PC health check.Could have paid £29.99 to get rid of the virus but health check cleard everything.
Its working ok now but they had to clear everything off and reload windows etc

Do you have any valid restore points you can try restoring the system to (ie last night before the Missus used it?)

I'm not an expert sadly but it doesn't seem to be hardware related - sorry just to edit this I read a forum where a guy had an issue with something similar and bought new memory which fixed the problem so it could be.

Don't know if this will help with the issue being a Minidump file.

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.ehow.com/how_5349981_read-screen-death-minidump-files.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.ehow.com/how_5349981_read-sc ... files.html</a>

Or this...

<a class="postlink" href="http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315263" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315263</a>

Another one which looks a lot clearer is this, seems like you might have to try to debug the file in Safe Mode anyway i'd better shoot on for my tea but Good Luck with it. <a class="postlink" href="http://www.pchell.com/support/minidumps.shtml" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.pchell.com/support/minidumps.shtml</a>

I will be pissed off if it is a virus as my virus protection is up to date
