Help me buy a car

I can't believe the sort of money people spend on cars!. Something that gets you from one place to another. Iv got a 20 year old Ford escourt. gets me to Mansfield and back (two hours each way) on a regular basis and got me to Hayle and back on my hols (five hour drive each way). The car cost me £400!. no power steering pisses me off at times. Lookin at replacing it in a few months. Be a grand max.

The C4 Cactus diesel can do over 80mpg in real world driving some users have reported.
I have the 1.2 petrol version, never liked diesel due to the fact that I've been a cyclist all my life, riding behind a diesel car belching out soot on so many occaisions, I didn't believe the "green" diesel lie the government and car manufacturers were peddling, not to mention friends and colleagues bigging up the virtues of diesel.
Having bought a Cactus in March, before the recent revelations, I feel vindicated in my choice, it might not have the mpg of diesel, but I don't use it for long haul trips, just local, and the odd long journey.
I don't have anything bad to say about the Cactus, a soft ride for sure, but it's very good value, looks like no other car, and easy to drive.
I paid £11k for a 6 months old model, all black, sat nav, bluetooth aircon, parking cameras, 17" alloys, 2 isofix for car seats, a decent sized boot, plenty of in car storage.
I wasn't even considering the cactus until I test drove it, but I knew it was the one for me as soon as I did.

Bought Mrs ww an evoque today. Nice ride. (Tonight hopefully).

He's had an escort for 20 years, give him a break, a recumbent would feel like luxury

I actually like Citroens, up until November I'd had one for 4 years. It was comfy and economical, just not the best looking car in the world. In fact it was downright fucking ugly. From certain angles it looked like it was trying to lick its own windows.
