I think the arrest might make the difference here. You can be refused entry and sent on your way but this has made things more difficult.

Not being argumentative at all here, but was he JUST drunk, or was he being a bit lairy as well?
I only ask cos I don't think I've seen city sober since I was about 14. Granted, of late circumstances have dictated I have not been able to go as much as I should of late but that's by the by.
Either way, it's a bit on theme harsh side. I didn't even know it was an offence. In the 90's it was a bloody requirement!!
Lessons learned, if you are pissed, keep quiet and keep your head down.
I reckon fine tops, if it gets that far.

Yes, the FSF will confirm it. And people have been banned for a lot less without any convictions even.

I'm not disputing it has happened. I just think your maybe unnecessarily worrying the lad to say he is "likely" to pick up a ban.
I'd be more inclined to say it's possible but pretty unlikely.

100% He will get a fine. And a 50/50 chance he could be banned from football grounds.
