help with stadium ban

Where in any of my posts have I said this was Citys fault?
And as I have already pointed out I probably would have used ticket exchange except they didn't announce it was up and running until a couple of days before the game and the day before I flew out of the country.
Anyway as previously stated I've emailed the club given my side of things in a civil manner and provided proof I was out of the country. My point being If they accept that it wasn't me who caused the offence how can they penalise me as I couldn't possibly have known what would ensue. The same as anyone else who might give their card to a mate who they trust. Same mate goes for a few beers before game and gets evicted . Is that the seasoncard holders fault?
All I'm saying is this guilt by association thing is a nonsense but I'm just going to await their reply before deciding how to proceed

You said they were a faceless corporation and no longer a football club because they didn't instantly rescind.

The fact is, City did the right thing and this is entirely your fault. You have an account with them, you lent ownership out to a person, this person misused the account. City temp banned the account. Whether or not you did anything is irrelevant because your representative did.

Its like giving your bank details to somebody who uses it to commit fraud then complaining when its frozen.

Your attitude towards this is self entitled, you are basically asking City to do you a favour and treat you as a special case and being insulting towards the club for not instantly jumping to it.

Don't talk nonsense where have I insulted the club or asked them to do me a favour? I've simply stated my case to them and am awaiting their reply.
Your entitled to your opinion as I am mine but feel as I have stated many times its wrong to ban me as I personally didn't do anything wrong and I hope city will take that into account as I have strong proof I wasn't there.
If you came to the game with your mate and he kicked off and got ejected would you expect to be banned with him just cos you bought him?
Yes it was my ticket and yes I Lent it to a friend as is allowed in the t&c's. If city sold my ticket on via ticket exchange and something happened they would know it wasn't me and I wouldn't be banned in this case at present they don't know it wasn't me but I have in my view sent through sufficient proof that it wasn't so we will see what they say.
I have not asked for special favours I have not insulted the club and I have not insisted on an immediate reply. I am fully aware that given its weekend I won't get any response till Monday at the earliest

Obviously you are annoyed. Rightly so, i would be gutted if it happened to me. However, through T@C you can lend you card out but the owner is soley responsible to whom it is leant out too. I would move on, take it as a harsh lesson learnt

That would be the main issue for me. You have to think carefully about who this person is, before you hand over your card. The OP has admitted that he doesn't know the fella in question. It begs the question; why would you do it? And yes, I know cards are loaned/sold out all the time on here to people the cardholder doesn't know, with no problems whatsoever. But the risk, negligible though it is, is there.

You insulted the club on page one.

It doesn't matter if you did nothing wrong because your proxy did. He is your responsibility, do you not get this?

Nail on the head. For the past 3 seasons though being away. Mine has been used, soley by a mate who i have known for years

Sometimes wish we could go back to the old days when we were a fooball club rather than a faceless corporate giant where they are quick to beat you with a stick despite 13 years season ticket holder and most aways over the last 4-5 years

My brother got a three game ban for the same thing at the end of last season. He only got his season card back for the Watford game. He admitted he was a bit of a tool for getting caught, and had a laugh about it. Totally his fault, so no biggie. Oh, and as has already pointed out, if you want to get to the games you can, as my brother has been to all 3 games. As for reviewing the policy of drinking alcohol at your seat.......not a hope in hell. Half the fuckers can't even handle their drink at half time, can you imagine the carnage if they were bringing pints to their seats!

A couple of years ago I could not attend a cup game against Liverpool. I wanted to let a friend use my card but because I have an over 65 card and he is nowhere near that age I decided that it would have to be upgraded. I was quoted something like £45 to do so! I said that this was ridiculous and was told they would get a more senior person to ring me who I think was Danny Wilson. It seems that they may now have changed the rules but at the time Danny said that strictly speaking in order to give your card to anyone the club should be notified. I said that was silly because everybody gives their card to someone else at some point. He agreed but said that people doing so needed to be aware that if the person using the card did anything wrong it would be the holder of the card that would be banned. I loaned my friend my card on that basis but I think this rule is probably generally known and if you are giving someone your card to anyone you must do so with this knowledge.

This bollox about getting back to being a "football club" rather than a "business":

I know someone who was banned for three matches for standing all game in the lower tier of the Kippax. He was on the back row so couldn't possibly be blocking the view of anybody behind him. That was in the days when we were supposed to be a "football club".
Fans will be arses - taking beer back to the seats and smoking in the bogs, stewards will be even bigger arses - making up stories to appear efficient, and those running the club will be arses as they can't just ignore the stewards and their tell tale nonsense.

By way of an update I have now had my card re-activated and I will collect it from the club tomorrow. Can’t really fault City who after being presented with the evidence accepted that I wasn’t the person concerned and I had contact with an individual there who dealt with the whole matter personally despite them being overseas at present. On a separate note the ‘guilt by association’ issue never cropped up and having read through all the terms and conditions I can’t personally see anywhere that it says that (though I’m not saying 100% that it doesn’t). It simply says that person is bound to the same conditions of entry that the cardholder themselves would be. I think as long as City are satisfied that you are not the person who committed the offence they will not seek to punish you further.

Luckily in this case I had unequivocal proof that I was overseas which I think was my saving grace as there was no question that I could have been the culprit, the outcome may well have been a lot different if I wasn’t able to provide the proof that I did.

So it ends happily for me but it is a wakeup call and should be a warning to anyone lending there card out. 99 times out of 100 there is no issues but if there is the consequences could be severe.

Never understood why you can't drink in the stands makes no sense what so ever?

They take everything away from football fans, standing, drinking in stands some are even trying to clamp down on swearing (yeah good luck with that)...... next it'll be sit down arms folded and don't speak! May as well make the players wear tutu's and do their own rendition of Swan Lake!

One good thing about MLS matches over here is that you can drink to your heart's content in the stands. That helps since the quality of play on the pitch ranges from mediocre to schoolyard hoof-ball. Because large beer companies are major sponsors in American sports, and because of the culture, it's accepted. The downside is that the $12 per cup prices sucks the joy out of it faster than Shrek can throw his arm up for a penalty shout.

Glad you got it sorted out and glad to know the club has a a human face.
What was their comment on your friend who loaned it out to the idiot?

Didn't get one the guy who was sorting it called me from Poland during a break in the conference he was at so it was pretty rushed . Just said he'd authorised by card to be reactivated and returned and I could collect it Tommorow.
I provided them with the details so assume they will be on a blacklist for x number of games

It's a ridiculous law and one brought in from the Taylor report I believe. I think it should be changed, at least on a trial basis with a rule of one drink per person and the bar remaining closed during the game to stop people just binge drinking and ruining the game for others keep going and coming back.

Regarding the OP it's not "Guilt by association" as you say. The key is "bound to the same conditions of entry that the cardholder themselves would be". Whether you're there or not you are responsible for the person's behaviour who uses your card rather like a tenant is responsible for their visitor's behaviour at their home.

I missed the last two home matches of last season because of a course and lent my seasoncard to a friend to use. He has his own but we agreed he'd lend his to someone else and sit in my seat to ensure didsburyblu's situation didn't happen to me. He did for QPR but then let someone else have it for Southampton. Thankfully he was fine but I was still angry in case he started playing up. I'd rather lose the money than risk that again. I know what City can be like sometimes.
