That implies people hold these views and the politicians are reflecting them but the reality is more that political figures like Farage/Fox/Yaxley-Lennon/Lowe are telling them what to be angry about.

The 2007 crash, a decade of austerity, Brexit and Covid have left 2 generations worse off than the previous and the rise of the internet &social media has isolated people and they know they’re unhappy about it and these figures are offering them somewhere and someone to direct all that anger towards.

Knife crime is down 8% over the last 5 years and knife Homicides are down 27% to their lowest level in a decade.

Anecdotal evidence and the right wing pushing the narrative that the country is descending into stabville doesn’t make it true.

Im not sure about the knife crime stats and am in no position to argue either way. What i would say is that over the last 10 years I have felt progressively less safe on the streets. I dont believe the country is getting safer and the increase in visible stab kits in the high street is worrying to say the least.

I do wonder whether thats down to the reality of things or down to the way parts of the media and certain political figures are stirring the pot.

I watched a programme last night on that mega jail in Ecuador. Built in 7 months. Houses 40,000 prisoners who basically get fed, watered, healthcare and a bible. That’s about it. They are locked up for 23.5 hours a day.

They took all gang members off the streets and put them in there. Crime has fallen dramatically and Ecuador is now one of the safest South American countries when it was one of the least safe.

It’s a harsh way of life and tough punishment and I’m not saying we should go the whole hog, but we need to be tougher. Sentences need to be tougher. Laws need to be tougher.

I’m absolutely sure I’m angry at what the killer did, his family’s cover up, and the cold reaction of the police. Seems to be consensus of people I know too. Are you not angry?

My mate got stabbed to death and i can assure you that no narratives, agendas or propaganda masks the crime of someone stabbing another with a knife.

I mean…it seems pretty clear from the judges remarks the attack happened because Henry was filming him on his phone and asking “are you bad man”, and Digwa decided that was an affront to him and his religion, nothing to do with Nowak’s race.

Bar the victim and his family, no one else has come out of this well. The murderer most of all, but his family seem to have conspired to pervert the course of justice.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing but the police don't appear to have handled this well initially. It sometimes does seem that police forces are more sensitive to accusations of racism than doing their job without fear or favour. But, on the other hand, there's seemingly evidence that police can be racist. It's about striking the right balance and i'm not sure our police forces are doing that properly currently. I'm sure the officers involved are wishing they'd done things differently.

Then there's the appalling people like Farage & Yaxley-Lennon who are determined to make political capital out of this. More police officers injured due to them trying to further their racist agenda. We saw similar with the airport assault case. Justice can be imperfect but it's a damn sight better than mob rule.

Just fucking let the appropriate authorities get on with it.

Well we rank 132nd in the world for knife involved homicides.

So if you're asking if the UK has a problem compared to other countries, our neighbours, then no.

Obviously any knife crime is a travesty that we should try to get rid of, but it's always existed, it's always going to exist and we have reduced it massively, and you're not interested in that reality, instead pretending that it's worse than ever.

I would assume if you cared as much about the knife crime as you say, then you'd pay attention to the facts regularly, and be well aware and glad that it's dropped by 27% in this parliament, so to say "it needs addressing" is bizarre. It has been addressed and it will be continued getting addressed.

The one bright spark I read today was the Sikh gentleman shaking hands with several protesters in Southampton and speaking with them about his disgust that someone of his faith could murder a young lad in cold blood with not a hint of aggression from either side, maybe there's some hope for humanity yet.
