Heroes - Bowie tribute @ Everton game

Well this thread is descending into an embarrassing reflection on some of our posters , lets slag David Bowie , because he is a queer , muslim marrying , tax dodging , druggy . Personally i dont agree with any tribute to Bowie tonight , he has no affiliation to our club or football in general , and there will be plenty of other tributes , maybe the club will play a couple of his tracks , and leave at that . But there are some right c*nts on here , the guy has just died , he has contributed immensely to our music industry , and he deserves some respect , not the shit some retards are posting on here .Also agree about the amount of minute silences and tributes nowadays , its getting ridiculous , if you want to mourn and light candles , go down the road to Klanfield , its wreath heaven down there.
Due to crackpot threads like this & the jihadi fuckin 'john' one it has gone unnoticed that Gareth Barry is returning tonight & no one has done a thread on what will be the best way to wank him off before the game...what is Bm coming to?

Fuck anyone making homophobic remarks. As for the original subject of the thread, it's a good idea but it probably won't occur to them.... but they are playing Fashion over the speakers just now.

@dawlish dave You're only singling him out because he's famous though, aren't you?
Can you honestly say that if you were wadded you'd overrule the advice of your accountant and make a point of paying every penny you owed?

He's probably singling Bowie out cos he's the subject of this thread!
Anyway, there are plenty of very rich Brits who *do* actually live & pay taxes here. The fact that some use tax loopholes doesnt stop DD and plenty of the rest of us being unhappy about it, esp given his circumstances he's just described above

I hope the playing of Heroes when the teams ran out, or Rebel Rebel and Starman at half time didn't ruin anyone's evening.
If it did, fuck you, grow up.

There is a connection between City & Bowie as it happens although it's a bit tenuous. When we moved to CoMS, we took out loans to finance the work we needed to do. I also think we used some of it to buy players as well. We secured these loans against part of our future season ticket income. So we gave up part of a future revenue stream for an up-front cash sum, in a process known as 'securitisation'. The first use of this financial instrument was by Bowie in 1997, who gave up 10 years of future royalties on all his work recorded before 1990 for a cash sum of $55m. He used that to buy the rights to songs owned by a former manager. We used ours to buy Anelka, Vuoso, Macken & Fowler.

Interesting stuff that Colin... Learn something new everyday :)

Incorrect, anyone ex City or not who is a tax dodger is anti me and my family now lets agree Mr Bowie Rip. "Hate"is not a word I use
Fair enough, sorry for offending you, I try not to use that word too but I let myself down with that comment.
On a separate point- city handled the song issue well last night, playing a variety of great Bowie songs in and amongst the halftime songs, well done city
Rest in peace David Bowie

I am still sorry for upsetting you, but that aside-
Where did the suggestion that Bowie was a tax dodger come from? I mean, if you have some proof or reason to support this odd claim, I'll listen and without doubt agree with you. However, Bowie had lived in Manhattan for the last decade or so, and therefore was not obliged to pay uk tax.
I don't know why but you have attempted to sully the name of a remarkable and completely self made person. Which I don't think is necessary because he wasn't a rag.
