High Blood Pressure

I don't know if its been mentioned, but I think most doctors surgeries have blood pressure monitors in the waiting areas you can use free of charge. You don't need to book or anything, just go in and use them. They print out and reading on a little bus type ticket.

Maybe I should move. I now have chronic osteo arthritis in my knee and hip. I really do not get any sense that my surgery has any plan for me . I had to push for cortisone shots . They kindly responded to my last request for an appointment to see what treatment I need by saying I'd get a phone call on 12th June. Urmston GP Practice....
I’d definitely explore alternatives.

Maybe they are enjoying their bonuses.

I take Losartan daily, I was on Ramipril for 20 years but it gave me a dry cough and I never felt great on it… Losartan is great for me, no cough and BP down to 135/75.. my worst reading was 180/110 Doctor nearly shat himself… I’m very lucky it was spotted when I was so young … I’m 60 this month and still alive and kicking … Despite City’s best efforts :-)

I'm on Amlopidine (5mg) and Perindopril (4mg). My recent one week monitor gave an average of 138/88. I had a review this morning and my Dr has increased the Amlopidine to 10mg in an attempt to reduce to below 135/85.

Hope that goes well for you mate, it’s a worry but we are fortunate in a way as there are millions out there with our condition that don’t know it and therefore far more at risk than we are .. 135/85 is pretty good to be fair

Just been for my medication review with the nurse at my GP practice.
Since my last review my weight has gone down from 115kg to 93kg, my blood pressure from "borderline high" to 130/90 and my pulse is 43.
The nurse asked what on earth I'd been up to, and I mentioned that I'd retired and taken up swimming and running, without changing my diet much, but cutting down on booze.
She called me a "model patient". I'll take that!
Hopefully my Ramipril prescription will get reduced now as I'm currently on 3.75mg per day.
