You say that as though 38 games is very few. 38 games is the length of a league campaign. And you're selectively ignoring the terrible back inury that kept him out for almost two seasons. And you're also ignoring the fact that if his latest injury would have happened in, say, November rather than May, he would have missed another 15-20 matches, instead of being injured during the summer break.And, as I pointed out, this actually hasn't happened to Ilkay Gundogan at all. He had one big injury and hasn't really missed much through injury outside of that.
Outside the back injury he has missed only 38 games since 2008 through injury.
I honestly don't know what point you're trying to make. The fact that Gundogan has struggled badly with injuries in his career so far is beyond doubt. It's not a slight on him as a player, simply an observation. And I think everybody hopes that his struggles are over and he will be healthy for the rest of his career.
