Bit of advice please guys.
I am due to go to Tenerife on my own in mid October, my dad passed away 2 years ago and he always liked it there so I wanted to visit a few places he liked and just do something for his memory.
However even though I love flying and travelling I have bad anxiety at airports. I am thinking seriously about changing it to next year -even though flights may have returned by October severe restrictions will be in place at airports and at hotels and stuff so in essence it will not be classed as a "holiday"
If you were me would you change it? I really want to go but I think October will be too soon.

The Frenchies are playing tit for tat or rendre coup pour coup and in our current climate can understand the l'irritation as this will do nothing for a resurgence of travel. However, the much anticipated second wave must be kept firmly at bay so stay alert and remain at our posts we must. The statisticians and chartists bring daily glimmers of hope but be assured that this is not the end, it is not even the beginning of the end, but it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning. In the immortal words of Colonel Tom "Tomorrow will be a good day"

I booked a Jet2 package to Lanzarote for late September through Hays Travel a while ago. Contacted Hays yesterday to move the holiday to a later date and they have played a blinder and found me the same holiday in late April 21 for the same money plus an extra day.
Just done a comparison for my holiday like for like May 2020/2021 and the cost is £840 more

i have a flight to tenerife in late october and an apartment booked but not paid for. it seems they are returning to some sense of normality soon but international tourists are not expected until later in the year if at all. in the case of airports they appear to be aiming for everyone wearing a mask, no duty free sales, no drinks on board flights and temperature checks. but i guess it all depends on what happens in next few months. personally i aim to go if the flight does as i am in an apartment so no no need to socialise unnecessarily. and to be truthful i would feel safer there than i would in the UK.

whilst not necessarily tenerife this was recently announced-

The Minister of Tourism of the Government of the Canary Islands, Yaiza Castilla, explained on Sunday morning, that her department is working on several channels to offer a destination free of coronavirus, and that it involves a security protocol that will monitor tourists from their destination to their holidays on the islands.
For this, an APP has been developed that will certify that tourists are free of the virus and will be able to spend their holidays in the Canary Islands. The councillor also announced that this first worldwide flight will depart from Madrid to Gran Canaria.
The passengers of this pioneering flight, which will take place in July, will carry a unique digital profile on their mobile phones, where a health entity, accredited by the Ministry of Health, will provide medical information regarding coronavirus. Users will request these entities to directly store the information, in encrypted and secure form, in their profiles.
Yaiza Castilla explained that the agreement materialized after several meetings with UNWTO representatives, in which the Canary Islands presented the project on which they are working, to recover tourism for the archipelago as soon as possible, and which involves converting the Canary Islands into a world laboratory for redesign of tourist security processes, and minimizing any risk in order to transmit health security to tourists.
"It is not about turning the Canary Islands into a hospital destination, but tourism for tourists who feel safe on the islands," said the Minister of Tourism.

Going to try TUI again this week to ask about amending our holiday to next year. Booked in store so cannot go through the app and have to ring which is a right pain in the arse.

Has anyone switched from this year to next year? And if so, have you been hit with a price increase at all?

I booked with tui online going to Turkey in June. I have managed to amend to same time next year for the same price. I could of changed hotel or destination if I wanted but I decided not to. If you amend your holiday and its cheaper, they refund the difference and if it's more expensive you will have to pay the difference.

I changed ours online and it was pretty simple. Imagine it must be a pain in the arse trying to get through on the phone though. We chose a different holiday in the end so not sure about prices, but think they're roughly the same.

Purely out of interest, is anybody hopeful of a European get away in August and September should travel restrictions be lifted and destinations welcome UK visitors without quarantine?

I have a short trip to Anzio in early October I now expect to go on but the wine tasting trip in very early August I’m not sure about.

I have flights to Ibiza with Jet 2 booked for mid / end of July. They haven't cancelled flights in July yet as far as i know and i get the feeling they will wait to see if flights are allowed by thenand then put the decision on the customer as to whether they take the flights or not.

If they do do that, what are your rights? Im not sure i will be comfortable travelling with family to spain in July even if flights are running by then. Will we lose our money? Or can we request them to be transfered / get a refund? Apologies if this has been covered numerous times.

If the govt have lifted their travel restrictions and the flight is going you have no choices other than fly, cancel and lose everything or see if they’ll let you change to a later date.

I imagine it comes down to FCO guidance at the time of travel matey. If the FCO say you are good to go and Jet 2 are flying then you either travel and go with the Flo or cancel the holiday at your own expense and loss.

Yes that was my fear. Travel at your own risk or lose your money.
