Holidays in America?

Shame, I actually think Seattle is a way nicer City than Vancouver. The airport is undergoing a huge remodel, should be nice when they finally get it done
Oh I’ve been to Seattle a couple of times when I’ve been over. I just thought it was an amusing quip from the official..

Don’t agree that it is a nicer city than Vancouver though but each to their own. *lol* It’s an interesting City. Loved the space needle and the overhead tram type transport in Seattle but Vancouver is my favourite. :-)

The place is full of northern wildlings!!!! :)

It is a fun town, I was just surprised how good Seattle is on a recent visit

Over the years we’ve been to America around 8 times, visiting friends who moved there. Been all over, a week with our friends and then a week elsewhere.
Wouldn’t dream of going again with that prick in charge.
He's doing terrible things.
But go down the Grand Canyon all the way to the Colorado River(not in summer time), the most spectacular walk I've done in my life. Even DT can't spoil that.

Last time I was coming back from Canada I had to fly Vancouver to Seattle to change planes and the guy at Vancouver immigration said how long will you be staying in America and when I said only about 3 hours he said good choice! ;-)
I’ve told this story more than once on these threads before but . . . I come over for matches reasonably often but usually fly to London non-stop and take the train to Manchester. Once I flew through Washington DC to Manchester direct though. Customs guy asked me how long I was in the UK for and “business or pleasure.” I said pleasure and he said, “What will you be doing?” I said “Watching the football.” He narrows his eyes and said, “City or United?” I said, “Why, City!” And he says, “Now there’s a good lad! Off you go, blue. Enjoy the match!”

One of the terrible things he’s doing is absolutely royally fucking the National Park Service so indeed he can spoil and is spoiling it. Read up on the lines at Yellowstone or the massive NPS staff cutbacks. It’s appalling. He couldn’t care less about such places. He wouldn’t visit a national park unless he could play golf in it. Or turn it into a (read: his) golf course.

Oh I love that. :-) :-)

As a yank I can say I would be a trifle worried as a non-white person with a funny name from a dodgy country at immigration, but otherwise things here for tourists are fine. Plus the dollar is down the tubes. I can understand the boycotts (especially by Canadians) — your money; spend it as you like. I’ve visited 47 states and each of the largest 50 metros by population save two (Cincinnati and Norfolk/Virginia Beach) so feel free to ask. IMO most underrated city is Pittsburgh, and most overrated is Orlando.

Which states are you missing ? :)

A few months ago I would have suggested staying away, but I work with foreign clients and I haven't heard any bad reports. I got talking to an Evertonian and his wife at a Mets game last week and he said he was worried but the process was same as ever.

That said it's your money and there's one language every rightwing idiot in America understands. If MAGA-owned businesses suffer from a tourism drop that suits me perfectly.

No, but the fires last week did! Burned down the famous Grand Canyon Lodge and ruined quite a few summer vacations!

Holidays are for getting away from it all, and whilst i agree that that is easier in a country who's language you don't understand, it can still be done in America.

Not long back from week in Miami and then week visiting in-law in Boston. Had wonderful time in both places. Visit Boston most years and try to include a week elsewhere.

I really liked Seattle. Super clean city and Pike's market is really great, with lovely atmosphere.
We walked for miles along the sea front on this really long path.
That huge Mount Ranier was a great snow topped backdrop .

Have been a few times....admittedly all to Orlando, Florida...really enjoyed it at the time.....but it wouldnt be anywhere near the top of my list of potential holidays....and stories like this dont sit well either

Irish guy over stayed his 90 day visa by three days, as he was told he couldnt travel for medical reasons. Of course rules are rules etc, but to be locked up for 100 days is a bit excessive
