Holidays in America?

Over the years we’ve been to America around 8 times, visiting friends who moved there. Been all over, a week with our friends and then a week elsewhere.
Wouldn’t dream of going again with that prick in charge.
Funnily enough, our friends who have gained Citizenship thinks he’s great
Same. Not a chance I’ll visit again whilst that ****’s in charge.

Just curious, is that because you feel he’ll make your visit uncomfortable or purely that you wouldn’t spend any money into his economy?
No judgement, just curious

The immigration officers are presently able to request you to open your phone and download whatever they wish and plenty turned around for anti-Trump social media posts.

Been to the US over a dozen times, love the place and the people but won’t give that government a single tourist dollar whilst he’s in charge.

We went when he was last in charge and going new york in September, doesn't bother me, I enjoy asking locals how they feel about trump and getting their polarising unfiltered opinions.

If I let political leadership dictate where I spent my money I'd have to leave the UK with the cluless Starmer and Co in power.

You’ve got Maga friends?

The two immigration officers who escorted me to the plane at JFK after overstaying my welcome were rude and hostile .

Why the negativity towards China?
I have always been treated very well on my many visits and there are some wonderful things to see and experience.
If you ever suspended your prejudice and actually went (with an open mind), I am sure that your opinion would change.

No one hitch-hikes or picks up riders anymore, for obvious reasons; the days of On The Road are long gone. But on my first time in the U.S. in 1969 it was still possible, in fact in California it was easy, and with a Greyhound Bus "rover" ticket in my pocket to fall back on I saw a lot of the country. The only trouble I had was near Mobile, Alabama. No one was stopping and along came two rednecks in a pick-up truck, Confederate plates on the front and hunting shotguns on the seat. They circled back around for a closer look and took exception to my (then) long hair before advising me that if I was still there later they'd put more holes in me than Nature intended. It was some years before "Deliverance" but they were that sort of fellas. I was heading to the safety of town to get the Greyhound when a chap in a sleek convertible pulled up to say he'd seen the British flag on my backpack and how he loved the Queen, he was sorry for my spot of bother and "not all us Southerners are like that." I got in gratefully. It was ten minutes before his hand was on my knee and I got out again, with that line from Dylan (though I'm mis-quoting it) "Stuck inside of Mobile with thee" playing in my head. Two kinds of Southern hospitality on the same evening and I sampled neither.
That's a great story. A true adventurers tale on lifes' road!
