Holidays

Just booked a short break to Verona in May.
Anyone have any tips ?
Went in November, a very nice city.

The ampitheatre (Arena di Verona) is a must, but also make time for Castelvecchio, the Piazzale Castel San Pietro viewpoint, which can be reached by funicular, and the cathedral.

“Discussing Uganda" In 1973, the satirical magazine Private Eye reported that journalist Mary Kenny had been disturbed in the arms of a former cabinet minister of President Obote of Uganda during a party. Variations of "Ugandan discussions" or "discussing Uganda" - the term is believed to have been coined by the poet James Fenton - were subsequently used by the Eye to describe any illicit encounter, and the phrase soon became part of common usage.

Just arrived in Tenerife two hours ago.
Queues were not bad but anyone with a walking stick like me or in a wheelchair was sent to the old desks to have their passport stamped the old way.

How are people finding these new passport checks etc? I’ve seen a few pictures of the Canary Islands and the queues have looked ridiculous.
No real issues yet, but that was for travel Oct- Dec.

Different airports have different levels of checks. Some don’t bother whilst others take your fingerprints AND want your to go through yet another electronic gate followed by the old manual stamp. That was Alicante and they had loads of terminals.

I get the impression that once they’ve collected your data it’s a lot easier. For example, the assistant wanted me to use the electronic system on exit from Barcelona but once I’d stuck my passport in, it said “complete” and I was straight through.

Assume can’t do these things before you go to then just ge able to go through? I hate faff at airports.

Bit before my time :/)

Afraid not. I wouldn’t worry, like I said, a lot of time they won’t even bother collecting the data. When it gets busy in holiday season they’ll probably have no choice but to wave people through to prevent crowds.

Went to the Reef a month ago and no biometrics, they just stamped the passports.

In the Dorm Right Now and we still haven't had our dabs taken. The machine said to to go to E_gate and we just placed our passport on the reader screen and then we got stamped in by immigration.

Maybe because our passports expire shortly, or maybe they're just reducing queues by phasing in gradually.

Getting out of tenerife end of October was horrendous. People on out flight missed it simply because of the queue to get through.

The staff weren't prioritising people based on flight departure time. People were kicking off etc.

We just made it by running the rest of the way. Really stressful experience.

Hopefully some lessons have been learnt by now.

Sounds my worst nightmare that!
