All I'll say is don't go to Sorrento. Tourist trap. Italian Blackpool.Looking at Salerno?
Far cheaper than Positano, only a 40 mile train ride from Naples and a flight £17 return with Ryanair.
Anyone been and decent beaches?

Yes have been there when I did most of the amalfi coast and it’s a great place as base with loads of options for day trips. Definitely worth doing it. Train to Naples is easy and Even Rome is cheap and less than 1h20 direct. It’s a great hub for getting to pompeii and other places on amalfi coast also.
The beach is big! Not the best in Italy but also not a bad beach either. It is quite close to the industrial port though.

Beautiful resort with some amazing eateries and bars. Last time we were there, around four years ago, we were paying £2 to £2.50 a pint. Been a good many times and regardless of any fluctuations in the Lira they always massage the price to fit the above.Anyone been to Icmeler recently? What’s the typical cost for a meal/ pint of beer?
At night it is usually OK but still most restaurants are nothing to write home about there are good ones and it is a base to explore from. The Old Harbour was my favourite place during the day as that is too far for the Americans to walk. In the "new" centre during the day is full of those tourists from the big cruise boats asking how many inches the pizza is as is not stated on the menu.We had our honeymoon there last August (Sorrento not Blackpool!) and full of American tourists but we loved it and thought it was a great place to have as a base to get to Naples, train to Pompei, and see Versuvius and then get excursions over to Capri. Loved it but each to their own
Wow a beer was 5 last time I was there admittedly it was nowhere near 23 lira to the pound think it was about 8 which ties in with what you say about them price fixing :-)Beautiful resort with some amazing eateries and bars. Cheers. Not sure I fancy that airport transfer. Seen other options really close to local airports and probably be arriving late eveningFucking beach sand would be good for making concrete rough as fuck. I know someone who went past year said prices had gone up alot on the previous years. I went in 2020 icmeler nice enough better than that shithole mamaris.

I lived (and drove bikes and cars) in Thailand! The private Mercedes vans are sound and cheap enough, the roads are barmy and the drivers don't give a fuck but that's like most places really.

Doing Slovenia end of May. Based in Ljubljana with a hire car. Doing Lake Bled. Any other tips much appreciatedWas in Croatia and Slovenia last October with the missus. Just spectacular. The Croatian coastline is incredible and some of their beaches are out of this world. Not to mention the islands. And Lake Bled in Slovenia is like something out of a fairytale. Stunning. Highly recommended.
Next trip is another little jaunt across the old pond to go to a place called the Etihad in March to see a certain team in blue take on the Geordies...:) It's been too bloody long. Bringing my City-mad son too. Can't wait.
Then Washington DC for Easter to visit my daughter. Lovely at that time of year with the cherry blossoms.
After that, who knows. Probably a trip to Costa Rica in Summer or Autumn. Looking at retiring there. Ain't living in the US once I give up this work thingy.
I might try and sneak in a long weekend back in the auld sod on a solo trip if I can manage it. Clonakilty Guitar Festival in September maybe...stay tuned. (Geddit?)
Ljubliana is a lovely city. Take the funicular up to the castle. Bled is less than an hour from there by car. If you can at all, spend a night there. Take the hike up to Bled castle if you have time. Prepare to spend a couple of hours doing it though. If you have time, take one of the Pletna boats over to the island in the lake. Again though, it's a couple of hours to get there, spend some time on the island and back.Doing Slovenia end of May. Based in Ljubljana with a hire car. Doing Lake Bled. We have 4 days. Going to do the gorge and Lake Bled (good cakes apparently). Thinking of doing Predjama Castle too time permitting. Really looking forward to it.Ljubliana is a lovely city. Lake Bohinj is another almost equally beautiful lake about a half hour south of Bled. Well worth a trip even if it is a separate one. Triglav Gorge is also beautiful. Waterfalls and a lovely walk along the side of the river in the gorge itself. That's pretty much what we did as we only had 2.5 days there. There's lots more to do in that area though.
You could also head down to Piran on the Adriatic coast. We never made it but it is supposed to be worth a visit. The good thing about Ljubliana is that nowhere in Slovenia is too far. Have fun. I'm jealous...;)
