Holidays

Did Haven once.
Came home after one night.
Scumbag central it was.

I have been to Venice over 12 times and have never experienced an aqua alta.
Each to their own, but I'd sooner rough it up with real folk, than get trench foot in some dreadful sunken waterhole. By the way your aqua altas are a regular occurance with 187 events in the last 30 years, and the big one in November 2019.

As an afterthought most of Venice's sewage goes directly into the city's canals. Flush a toilet, and someone cruising up a side canal on a gondola may notice a small woosh of water emerging from an opening in a wall, with a gaggle of banker-flotillas to follow. The churches are nice though ; )

Mad to think but due to Covid and having a child I didn't go abroad for 3 years. Went to Lanzarote in November and little girl absolutely loved it. So much so in fact that my holiday this year is in Orlando Florida where she will lose the plot everyday in Disneyland. Its nice to say its for her but me and the wife both wanted to go. This holiday has cost though. With flights and theme parks plus taking nanna and grandad this isbthe holiday to end all holidays

Nice to be able to fly again after all the covid shit. Went to Taiwan last month, and got a couple of holidays in France booked. Has anyone been to Provence, it looks good from what we’ve read.

Other than that, a cottage in the Scottish Highlands for hiking and wildlife watching, and the usual trip to Norfolk. Oh and London next month, the missus wants to see the opera.

Disney World. (Sorry, it’s one of those subjects where I cant help correcting :)

I’m sure you’ll have a great time. It is expensive, but when you get there, you’ll see it’s money well spent.

I know a couple who wete going to Disney World but told their friends they were going to Disneyland.
The other couple booked flights to California, hoping to surprise them.
Luckily they found about 2 weeks before they had to fly out and managed to change flight details although they did have to pay for flight changes.

Any restaurant recommendations for Venice mate ?
Ca Doro Alla Vedova in Cannaregio, not too expensive.
If you are pushing the boat out Osteria Alle Testiere in Castello
On a budget go on a cicchetti bar crawl. It’s what I do most days.
Sign up to Groupon.it. They have deals in Venice.

Sorrento next for me in June …with day trips to Amalfi Capri and Positano. Hints and tips gratefully received
Went last year in June & weather was great (too hot for tourist stuff if I'm being honest).

Visited Herculaneum rather than Pompeii as it was closer & a lot more compact. Good way to kill a couple of hours.

Capri & Positano both spectacular but tbh couldn't say there was much difference between the two. If I had to choose one over the other it would be Capri.

Enjoy the Limoncello !

Weve not been abroad since 2019, covid and work restrictions stopped us. We got married last year and saved the money to have a proper honeymoon, finally booked Hong Kong and Dubai for September. Feels surreal to think we are going away again but its well needed.

Wouldn't it have made more sense for them all to go to Hedonism II?

Nerja on Thursday for 5 days
Bruges in May
Golf trip in North Wales ( May)
September holiday to be decided
