One of the contributing factors to where we are now is that it is not already compulsory for all curriculums and denial/diminish propaganda has been elevated in recent times. It’s astonishing and abhorrent.

As far as I’m aware, it is a compulsory part of the national curriculum. Maybe that’s why the thread has had relatively little engagement. This is from the Holocaust Educational Trust website:

The Holocaust is today part of every child’s formal education in England. The principal way in which children will learn about the Holocaust is through the National Curriculum for History.

The National Curriculum
In England, by law children are to be taught about the Holocaust as part of the Key Stage 3 History curriculum; in fact, the Holocaust is the only historical event whose study is compulsory on the National Curriculum. This usually occurs in Year 9 (age 13-14).

Its simply something that should always be marked, never be forgotten and the reasons that it happened be drilled into all kids so they understand the potential results of intolerance of anyone and any thing. The fact that there have been other attempts at holocausts since WW2 show that lessons need to be learned continually. Race, religion, skin colour, sexuality, mental of physical disability and so many more determining factors of discrimination need to be recognised and understood. These words should move every sound human being.

First they came for the Communists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Communist

Then they came for the Socialists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Socialist

Then they came for the trade unionists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a trade unionist

Then they came for the Jews
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew

Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me

I was assuming the OP was talking about schools throughout the UK along with Academies.

That is what I thought they were referring to, as well.

Just below the section Ric quoted from the Holocaust Educational Trust:

Although there is no formal requirement for Holocaust education in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, participation in the Trust’s Outreach programme and Lessons from Auschwitz project as well as programmes sponsored by other organisations suggests that the Holocaust is widely taught nonetheless.

Although not necessarily captured in the OP’s intent for this thread, this issue is also pervasive across many countries in the world, sadly in some European countries where it really should not be an issue at all given direct history.

Living in the US, I can say it is also a rising and frightening issue here.

There have been other mass murders in modern times: Stalin, Mao, and Pol Pot all killed millions. Whilst I accept that the holocaust stands out because of its genocidal nature, we should remember the victims of all vicious dictators and teach children about those too.
Hatred, whatever its source, is still hatred.

Absolute and total agreement and grateful to you all for your contributions.
