Holocaust Memorial Day - Monday 27 January

Mans inhumanity to man, nothing changes and nothing ever will. The convention against genocide adopted by the U.N was supposed to ensure the horrors of the holocaust would never be repeated. But as the sands of time rolled nothing failed to prevent atrocities like canbodia rwanda or bosnia and still the world looked on. Promises are made to be broken and nothing changes except for the increasing level of a soundbite. Shame eternal shame.

Bad men need nothing more to compass their ends than that good men should look on and do nothing.

“Never forget” says man who’s already forgotten what happened 75 years ago by stopping child refugees reuniting with their families. And palling up with Orban. And the likes of Steve Bannon.

As long as I am Prime Minister, I will never allow this country to forget what happened 75 years ago. I will do all I can to see that we continue to learn the lessons of the past. #HolocaustRemembranceDay https://jewishnews.timesofisrael.co...=Social&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1580121892

Sorry but can’t you leave out the politics on this thread.

To be fair, this thread is the one in the Politics subforum and the topic is intermingled with policy.

We’ll do our best to enforce “no politics” in the Holocaust Memorial Day thread in the main Off Topic forum, though.

Its not politics its lying and double standards. Ignore that and as is being said you turn a blind eye to what is going on. Johnson cannot claim the moral high ground yet hang out with people like he does.
Stick it on the Johnson thread then. No problem with that

Only just realised there were two threads. I take your point.

There have been other mass murders in modern times: Stalin, Mao, and Pol Pot all killed millions. Whilst I accept that the holocaust stands out because of its genocidal nature, we should remember the victims of all vicious dictators and teach children about those too.
Hatred, whatever its source, is still hatred.

Holocaust Memorial Day looks to remember all those who suffered in holocaust. Including those in Rwanda and Cambodia. The HMD Trust are clear in this but it does appear the media, at this time of year, focus on the atrocities faced by Jewish people in the late 30s and 40s. I can see why, as it is closer to home, so to speak.
