Home form - Won 2, Lost 2

We seem to lose quite a few games at home under Pellegrini, relatively speaking. Already, despite having a team of top players we have lost half our home games, with the defeats coming back to back in less than a week.

Although on our day we play some stunning football, we're not really hard to beat at home like we used to be, with even lower league teams coming here and knocking us out of the cups in successive seasons.

I remember even when we performed terribly under Mancini in the 12/13 CL group stage, Real Madrid, Dortmund & Ajax couldn't get a win against us at the Etihad. If we didn't play well and didn't win we had a knack of at least grinding out a draw. Pretty sure I saw a stat which said we'd lost more home games in two seasons under Pellegrini than we had in the previous five.

Why do we lose at home more in the leagues and cups than we have in previous years? Are we too open? Is it the necessary gamble of playing attractive attacking football?

That was the 1st home league defeat in something like 8/9 games. A bit of perspective please.
Anyway where do you think the we never win at home and we never win away came from ;-)

This is going to be a very tough premeirship this season , even mid table teams are spending £30m-£40m on players in total , the standard has risen , and teams will see us as a team susceptible to a counter attack , like Juve and West Ham did , i dont think this will be our only home defeat , but we will win plenty on the road.

We shouldn't be losing at home twice in a week especially this one. Very poor result today.

Home form is everything in this league. We dropped hardly any points at home in both title winning seasons.

We blew a great chance today by being complacent and once again missing too many chances. I'm
Not sure what is wrong with Aguero but he was awful today.

Very true re Aguero....worst I have seen him play.

Yep we lost, but on another day we could have had 3 or 4 - so at this stage I ain't too concerned.....

But as a mate pointed out there is a worrying trend -

2x 3 nil wins
2x 2 nil wins
1 x 1 nil win

Now back to back defeats ....

We are getting worse every single game !!

At this rate we will be relegated by Christmas.....

One draw in first title season, loss and draw in second I think. Sunderland both draws and Chelsea loss.

Exactly so pressure now on for the remaining 16. 5 of our next 9 at home and we have to win them. We can't afford any more of these sloppy slip ups because eventually the away form tails off and it's home form that gets you where you want to be.

We lose far too may at home nowadays in all comps.

We've lost 13 home games in about the last 20odd months.

Interesting this, as Pellegrini and Mancini clearly have different styles, but who is profiting more?

interesting titbits from the above graph;

1 - Mancini never lost a home European game in the Europa/CL (P12 W7 D5 L0)
2 - Mancini only won once away in the CL (P6 W1 D0 L5)
3- Mancini won 3 of 12 CL games and never progressed from the groups, Pellegrini has won 7 of 17 CL games, progressing to the 2nd round both times (but no further)
4 - Mark Hughes was quite good at home
5 - Pellegrini has won 56% of away games, Mancini 43%, Hughes 21%, Sven 27%
