Home grown (etc) rules ?

Correct, he's been here since he was 6 so would be club trained next year(?). That said I'm not sure he's good enough or ever will be but that's for a different thread.

I don't think the likes of Evans will actually be 'in the squad' at the start of September, rather the entire EDS will act as a reserve pool for the CL squad (those that have been here 2 years anyway) as we only need to register B list players the night before a game. Makes more sense to call them up as, when and if they're needed rather than raising their hopes at the start of the season only for most of them not to make a matchday squad.

Of course he wouldn't, I'm an idiot.

Nothing is stopping us. We can even sign De Bruyne and use Zuculini for the August games without registering him in the squad as we don't have to submit our final squad of 25 to either the Premier League or UEFA until the 3rd of September. I doubt Zuculini is causing the hold up with the De Bruyne move to be honest, I think we're just trying to pick out the right PL Loan for him (ie a team with a shortage of midfield players where he's more likely to (a) get game time and (b) be an important player to his team as Lopes and Denayer were last season).

thanks aguero93:20....I wasnt sure when we had to submit out final squad! cheers mate!;)

If we sign Pogba it doesn't matter if it turns out he is home grown because we'd have to lose one of Hart, Clichy, Delph or Sterling in order for him to fill a locally trained spot.
No, we can have up to 21 locally-trained players in the squad, we just have to lose the non-HG players. Any locally-trained player we sign from now on would more than likely displace a fringe non-HG player.

I'd say it does matter then.

Not really, whether he's homegrown, or not, we'd need to add someone to one of the 17 "open" slots. The only difference would be, if he was homegrown, we'd name any one of 5 players (Hart, Clichy, Sterling, Delph or Pogba) to the "open slot" position, whereas if he's not homegrown it would be Pogba specifically we added to the "open slot". Where is does matter is, in subsequent seasons, when it comes to letting homegrown players exit. If, next summer, we looked to offload Clichy then Pogba being homegrown would make that a far easier thing to do (as we'd still be able to name 4 homegrown players), whereas if Pogba isn't homegrown then we'd only have 3 left at the club once Clichy left (Hart, Delph and Sterling) so we'd need to address the homegrown quota again.

I was under the impression that Pogba wasn't at United long enough to qualify as homegrown (albeit he missed out by a matter of days).

Thanks, I think there's only George thinks he might be home grown anyway.
