Currently we have 8 active - Hart, Taylor, Richards, Clichy, Lescott, Barry, Milner, A.Johnson plus Bridge and M.Johnson who i think have one more year left. This rule is surely going to affect our business in the summer in that we may be forced to include someone in our squad that we don't want.

When blues answer the question of who should go A.Johnson is pretty high on the list from the active players, would this role affect him from going? Similar to Weiss, would he be brought into the squad?

If Guidetti and Boyata come back i'm not sure they would count as they are under 21, neither would Suarez and Rekik.

doesnt clichy and nasri come under the home grown players has they been over here for a number of yrs also they came over under 21 when they signed for arsenal but im not sure of the rule tbh

We have 8 association players as you say in our squad which is fine for the prem league rules and IMO none will leave but the only two homegrown players are Richards and Johnson which is why our CL squad was only 23 because in CL there must be at least 4 association based players and 4 homegrown players to make up the 25 on the A list.

They can still be registered as home grown but they will take up an "over-21" slot instead of being able to be used as "free" additions to a 25 man squad. If we don't register them as squad members to fulfill the home grown rule we could have an effective squad size of 29 counting the kids.

Think there are enough loopholes for boys (foreign or otherwise) from our academy we can get round it... Not saying that's best or anything.

Boyata is 21 now so should count. Guidetti won't count until the 2013/2014 season nor will Razak.

Nathaniel Clyne is a possibility, 21, right-back, but rags are pressing hard to sign him and may already have a pre-contract agreement.

The problem is finding 21+ year olds who count as homegrown and would improve us or be good squad players.

I was always under the impression that U21's didn't and couldn't be registered. Ifwhat you say is right then we should be fine.

Maybe that is why we are looking at Sturridge.

To count as homegrown they have to serve three years in our academy before they attain 21. Those over 21 and come from other english academys are association players if I have interpreted the rules correctly. Under 21s can go on a B list and there is no restriction on the number. So the Saurez, Rekik and Razaks in our club are all eligible to play CL or prem league from the B list.

They have to be 21+.

- Home-grown players do not have to be English; home-grown players are defined as those who "irrespective of nationality or age, have been affiliated to the FA or Welsh FA for a period of three seasons or 36 months prior to 21st birthday"

Boyata turned 21 in November so should count
Guidetti only turned 20 in April so won't
Nimely, Razak, Wabara are also 20 but would count in 2013/2014 season

It's any academy in England and Wales, otherwise we would only have 1 home grown player.
