Homes Being Evacuated in West Didsbury Due To Risk Of Flooding.

Not where Im sitting its not, reminds me of last time the river got high and the media made out that west dids was underwater, yes the river is high and a few roads near it might suffer, but the way its reported is that we all sat on our roofs waiting to be saved.

All the investors need to hold off pushing the council for the West Didsbury Yacht club then :)

The M60 opened with "Road liable to flooding' signs before the first vehicle got its tyres wet!
Ive never understood the wording of that sign, surely it should be "road is liable to flood" if a tree is looking a bit wobbly its liable to fall not liable to falling? if a animal is not to well its liable to die not liable to dying?
That sign gets on my nerves everytime I see it!

And surely, if they know that, create better drainage to minimise the risk of flooding!

We're about 200 yards from the river and last night we packed a bag and got ready for the dreaded knock
on the door.Thankfully it didn't come and we're ok.
Last January we did have to evacuate and went to our daughter in Heaton Moor.
Drove home next morning to look at the damage and encountered Boris feckin'Johnson walking up our road!!
As if things weren't bad enough
Last night the river was at the top of the arches of Cheadle Bridge but the sluices were opened around earl evening
and that seems to have done the trick.
Got friends over in West Didsbury and they didn't fare so well,so I'm thankful for small mercies.
Just made a nice pot of coffee, going for a sit-down,didn't get any sleep last night but looking at the shit going
down in Ukraine puts things in perspective.
Keep safe everyone.

Between Palatine Road and the Parkway it's definitely down a few feet.

Have a word with @Ric, "BM, liable to pedrantry" or should it be "pedants"
as a disclaimer on the blurb.
A nit-picker is not a pedant, pedant has six characters whereas.... As a time-served indentured pedant myself I have to confess to missing this one/these? Probably distracted by glaring (too me) spelling mistakes . Worse things happen at see. As you were .
I'm conflicted tbh, we have the "little things that...." thread, where your post clearly belongs, and also, clearly my response.....life is so hard sometimes.:)
