Oh man, this happened to us so many times.
Crazy comparison but used to stay in a little B&B in Southport. The same weekend for 5 years for a Conference that was at the Floral Hall. Even recommended it to a few other people who then also stayed there. On the last year there, our friends of ours had 9 out of the 10 rooms. So what do they do, yup double the price.
So the following year we booked in at the Premier Inn. It was about 10 quid more expensive per night but could live with that.
On checkout we would always book for the following year as we'd always had great service.
The clerk at the reception desk asked why we always returned for the same weekend. Explained it was for a Dance Conference held the same weekend.
About 2 weeks later we received an email to say they couldn't accept our booking as it was more than 12 months in advance, despite doing so on numerous previous occasions.
When we went to rebook, the price had trebled for the same weekend.
