Houssem Aouar

Cancelo even at the time was a completely unnecessary signing. What was wrong with danilo as a substitute right back exactly? What does cancelo offer more that we spent 30m more to upgrade?
Danilo wanted out but, given Walker's robust constitution and injury resistance, I think we could have sold him and used Frimpong as cover - he has impressed at Celtic and attacks well.

I often wonder if it's just forgetfulness or do some people willfully act ignorant about transfers. Danilo wanted out and so we were forced to sell.

Stones, english, shown willingness and ability to play football from the back and many thought Pep would take him to the next level. I think 50m was probably about what you would have to spend to get someone like him.

Rodri, how is piss poor scouting? Do you genuinely believe that the scouts, Txiki and Pep sat there and thought fuck me this lad is fast and are now scratching their heads because hes not. They knew full well what they were buying, it may well not have worked out but its not the lads fault, hes been thrown into impossible situations.

I’m not saying it’s Rodri’s fault he’s a very decent footballer with very little mobility. It’s not worked because he is not and will not ever be able to cover the large spaces that we leave open. If we aren’t blaming Pep or the scouts for it who is to blame for a player who isn’t fitting into our system? It’s like continuously buying centre backs who lack pace. Fine if you’re a team who tend to drop off but in our system they’ll keep getting exposed.

Not quite sure I understand why he would move to Arsenal if he was so good.

I haven’t seen him play apart from against us so don’t know whether he is any good or not but if he was as good as some appear to believe then surely other clubs would be in the running.

Could be the amount that Lyon want - Arsenal were miles away in their offer ( £32m ) as reported in media.

It's not just about his lack of mobility though, positionally he's piss poor too.

It does come back to recruitment clearly, we seem to expect Pep to do miracles with players who just don't have the attributes he needs for key positions.

Exactly as one of the few teams who pay the majority of a fee up front, this should be a tremendous window. This is the first signing that puts us in player credit, rather simply covering the players recently lost. Just go to see if Juve will swap Rabiot for Rodders.
