Where is he supposed to play? He is not a defensive midfielder so I’m trying to understand.

Fernandinho was an attacking midfielder when we bought him. Gundogan was an attacking midfielder when we bought him.

Both have played a bunch of games as a 6 or as part of a two-man central midfield. Both are also not really fit for purpose anymore.

Aouar would be the ideal replacement for Gundogan, and I personally think Fernandinho would make the ideal number 2 for Pep and could take over from him when he leaves.
