For me, the biggest indicator was that under Bayern's press - probably the most aggressive in Europe - several times he got the ball with 3 or 4 bearing down on him and either beat the press or got the ball away cleanly.
 
Obviously his talent is undeniable and everyone can see what he's doing.

I think even a midfield trio of Bernardo-Aouar-Kevin would work, lots of energy in there with Bernardo and Aouar playing a bit deeper than Kevin when needed. Lots of options anyways, can also just replace David with Rodri/Gundogan as 6.

Where is he supposed to play? He is not a defensive midfielder so I’m trying to understand.
 
Too many people worry about how/where everyone will fit in. These guys are all professionals. They'll compete for spots, the ones that don't play as much as they'd like will probably move on, then we do it all over again. It's how every big club in the world operates.

He's box-to-box, between Rodri and Kevin.

He would provide energy in midfield, and control that Pep wants.

Gundogan and Rodri provide control but not energy.

That would be my guess, it makes sense.

Think it’s a bit naive. Of course you need to look at positions that we need to fill.
Pep said multiple times that David Silva will not be replaced. Foden is his natural successor. De Bruyne is there, Bernardo is there. Gundogan can play there.

I can’t fit this guy into our team and honestly I don’t think he’s right for us.
I would have understood someone like Bennacer. He’s a bit like Aouar with the same energy, only more defensive minded which we need given Ferna is 35. That deal would make sense. This doesn’t. Feels more like a luxury signing. What we need is a Ferna type in midfield who can win the ball and tackle.

Either he threw that game tonight because he didn’t want to miss his appointment with Bridgefords, or it’s not him.
