How about a Yank?

The U.S. has a tremendous group of young talent in their U16-U20 ranks. The brightest star appears to be 18 year old Juan Agudelo. He is not ready to make the jump to the top league in the world yet, but give him another year to mature physically, and develop his skills, he could easily be something very special.

But, they'd never get their work visa unless they have played for the national team. That's why we don't have scouts in America. We're not going to pick some young talent up from the U.S. We'd have to take one of the world cup stars. And...... no thanks right now.

If you want to capture the american market its either landon donovan or juan agudelo. As talented as clint dempsey is he's not a hosehold name. Agudelo has a buzz about him right now and landon's held our national team together for years along with tim howard.

That being said, landon would be a little overpriced so I'd say agudelo is the best bet.

Any laws there are, there are always loop holes just like we did with abdul razak from the ivory coast

In america the top level players are average players not top players, kasey kellers one of the top rated goalkeepers so that speaks volumes. Another one being freddy adu, from being the highest rated youngster in america to scrapping it on the bench at benfica. The most interesting market however is in youngsters, football is a growing sport over there and the standards and facilities for football are fantastic. With all the hype of taking part in the world cup and maybe hosting it, interest only further increased. Rather than looking at this generation, its better to look at the next generation of players

Honestly, Adu was highly rated at fourteen. Lots of fourteen year-old kids are highly rated and then don't make it.

But yes, the next generation has some promise.

The name to watch is Timothy Chandler. He's a 21 year old fullback who had afalling out with the German NT. He used his American roots and is now one of 5 German born Americans in the USA system. He plays for Nurnberg on both sides as well as wide midfield, something his club are doing a lot more of.

Chandler was one of the top rated fullbacks by the Bundesligas version of Sky, "Kicker". He was up there with the likes of Philip Lahm on many lists. Truthfully he reminds me a bit of Sergio Ramos. He has an athletic body and good pace. He can also beat the guy around the edge of the 18 to deliver a cross. He was on Bayerns eye last summer but they opted for Rafhina.

I believe Chandler is a future winger. A very good one at that.

Top youngsters in US right now are, Juan Agudelo(18), Timothy Chandler(21), Luis Gil(17), Brek Shea(21) and Bill Hamid(20).

Gil was looked at by Arsenal but he decided to stay state side. Very talented center midfielder who sees the field well but is a bit small.

Timothy Chandler like said before, very pacy, tall, athletic right back who shows loads of promise and pretty good at swinging the ball in.

Brek Shea, a winger who can play striker is tall at 6'3". He looks like Fernando Torres and has a very long stride. Has really shown he can play with the US team.

Bill Hamid, perhaps my favorite player coming up is a GK who is incredibly athletic and very strong. Think Joe Hart size(except more muscular) with Michael Vorm's athleticism. Very aggressive in the box and not afraid to come off of his line. Celtic were interested a couple of years ago but couldn't figure out the work permit. Still a bit raw but very good.

Juan Agudelo, probably the best upside out of the bunch. He was born in Columbia so brings a bit of Samba to his game but plays every game very hard. He has Tevez work rate, makes good hard runs off of the ball but has a tremendous attitude unlike Tevez. He has good size at 6'1" and strength and is very smart on the pitch.

I think all five show a ton of promise just need a bit more experience and would likely need time to develop and not be able to just step right into the fold.
