Met someone from long ago last night, talked about the match, City, & life. We'd gone to school and played cricket together as kids and once both got in trouble trying to nick stuff from Wiles's toy shop on Market St., that's how far back it was. Not seen each other for three years due to distance & covid so in catching up we each had stories of family loss to tell, saying that compared to that kind of thing the result of a football match doesn't matter much. Cheered up enormously and got more confident thanks to a song that came on. "Sweet Caroline" changed the mood, ended the evening agreeing City would do us and our loved ones proud today. 4-0. We're in different parts of the Etihad this afternoon, Roy says he might go on the pitch afterwards, I'll just be happy if the tannoy plays Neil Diamond again while they're setting up for the trophy presentation like they did after QPR. And I don't care how naff people think it is!
Come on, City!
