the old top 4 clubs that used to run the premeirship for the last 10 years was
utd chelsea liverpool arsenal always had the power to bring in big players
and then pay them big money from the champions league tv deals

but last season liverpool missed out and looks like arsenal could be with them this season 2 of the old school teams that will lose over £50million each next season if they dont get a top 4 place

my question is how big is losing out in the top 4 race
ok liverpoool have new owners and maybe they could put money into the team
but look at this season £100million was spent and they are still way of a top 4 place

missing out for just 1 season does really hurt teams in the long run
and looking at liverpool may take 5 years to get it back

Re: how big is a top 4 place

FFP kicking in has made a CL place everything. it's going to be harder than ever to break a 'top 4' if one forms from the 7 clubs currently up there.

forgot about the FFP rule that could kill of liverpool

It really gets my goat every time United go out of Europe or Liverpool don't qualify....

the papers scream ''they have lost XX millions''. No, they haven't lost a penny, they just cannot gain anymore.....
It's the arrogance of these clubs that they budget their finances based on qualification and a ride until at least the last 8. Fuck em.

Would love ourselves and Spuds to qualify at the expense of two of the usual suspects. Would actually prefer Arsenal to qualify over Chelsea!

Just shows that its not just money ( does help though) - its about good management and building the team.

Teams like Arse and Liverpool will have to keep spending the longer they stay out of the top 4 then its not just CL revenue but sponsorship etc will reduce.

Personally i think its great

arsenal wont be too badly affected i think considering they dont spend money on players anyay.

Liverpool on the other hand,it doesn't matter how big a fan base they have, they cannot keep spending the money they do without making top 4.

I tell you what would be funny as hell if the top of the table at the end of the year was this.

City
Rags
Newcastle
bin dippers

Not that I like any of the other teams but I'd bloody love to see a top 4 that didn't include a London based club.

Rags are as good as London based.
