How City Could Break Even

Am I the only one who expected a really bad joke about De Jong's tackle when reading the thread title?

City breaking even...

I have never come across this before, and of the opinion it is the best example/insight into where our club is going.

Fascinating these number-cruncher blokes!

Swiss Ramble is the best footballing blog I've ever seen.
Every article is superb :)

Really interesting read there, thanks OP.

What does everyone make of potentially renaming the stadium, ala The Emirates or Reebok Stadium?

They say in that article that fans probably wouldn't be too bothered because it's a relatively new ground with no sentiment attached but, honestly, i'd hate to roll up to the Etihad Arena or the Ferrostaal Camp once a fortnight.

If it has to be done then fine but that would be the very last thing i'd want City to do in order to break even.

Sorry to be negative here folks but from reading this article, City are stuffed. Basically, from next season City will not be able to compete financially at the top level. When the current owners took over these rules were not in place and our turnover at the moment is pitiful compared the rags, arsenal and liverpool. Yes we can break even but only if we spend significantly less than our main rivals. Enjoy the ride this season folks - this will be as good as it ever gets. Prat Platini has designed these rules primarily to make sure that City are severely restricted in the future.

Whoever wrote that is very clever.

He/she didn't even include the lower wage costs by cutting players like Bridge and Lescott for cheaper alternatives.
