Can all posts on prevention please go in here to stop clogging up the other threads, any posts on prevention in them threads will just get deleted as they're for news on the incidents

Good luck with finding the answers, please carry on........

From the day after Manchester anyone tweeting their support for the attacks should get 5 years. If records show they have dug deep for terrorist materials to download should go down for life imo. These people get no considerations from me above those of Saffie and others.

Now curious minds should just get a knock on the door to stay away from such stuff, for example i can imagine some 12yo muslim kids will not fully grasp this and think it is 'gangsta' to read about stuff. Those people should be told whats what. Those who show a lot of activity and have downloaded instructive material for making weapons from jihadi type sites should feel the full force of the law. No decent person would be messing with that stuff especially after Manchester so to do so imo shows support for the deaths of innocent civilians right here.

It is not hard to make a distinction between a generally curious kid to that of a grown man methodically researching bomb making for example.

We can't prevent it......a more tangible couple of questions would be fight back or hope for the best??
I know what my answer is but how would/should we fight back?

right............... lets start with the simple questions and then move on to the tough ones.... lol

Not sure you can tackle it - its really and ideology that is behind the act so you really are into hearts and minds there.

Why do people take things to ridiculous extremes? Nobody is advocating imprisoning someone for Googling ISIS. We are talking a few algorythms which will flag up potential threats to our safety and making radical sites illegal to access just like, as I stated earlier, child pornography sites are. If this takes away a little bit of freedom so be it. The safety and security of each and every one of us is far more important.

Relentless campaign of education, information, and community-based policing with community-based responsibility for highlighting any sense of worries/concerns without fear of retribution.

And a cohesive foreign policy based on defining our role in ensuring global security which reflects the will of the people.

Education is key

Those involved in anything from hate preeching to going to Syria(or even thinking about it) should be locked up.

Anyone on the 'watch list' should know they are being watched and made to feel uncomfortable as possible. Knock on thier door every day and if they are not in, kick it down - fuckit, even kick it down if they are in!

We need more Police in communities. More prison officers to try and prevent the malicious 'conversion'/grooming of vunerable people(or anyone for that matter). More obstacles on pavements to prevent cars/vans/trucks from mounting curbs and being able to pick up speed

It's not easy. There are lots of spokes to this particular wheel

i'd say its nigh on impossible. you cant stop an ideology, and you cant stop people being brainwashed by it. events like last nights are almost impossible to prevent

Maybe not in the short term but you can over time. The Roman Empire, with all their demi gods, were defeated and many ideologies have come and gone. Charlton Heston said in the film Quo Vadis that the way to beat an idea is with a bigger idea.

There are no simple answers, Part of the answer is in education and it's partly in destroying the Calaphate (although I wouldn't have started from here) so Impressionable teenagers no longer think there is an Islamiist Disneyland world to join.

all 4000 on the watch list should be imprisioned or at the very least chipped.

Not in favour of general eavesdropping although I have no problem with monitoring visits to selected sites. Surely that goes on at present, though, and frequent visitors followed up intensively?

You can't control individual behaviour and thought so stamping it out completely is impossible, all that can be done is to clamp down on organisations that encourage and accommodate it.

At the source, the states promoting and funding it need to be cut off from access to the internatonal stage, and how we choose who they are should be on facts not personal agendas and profits, even if they are alllies.

Education and inclusion we need to teach tollerance and mutual respect, all faith shools should be banned in fact I would advocate a ban on religious teaching in schools unless it is on a multifaith basis where you learn about the lot.

Anyone found to be preaching hate and division should be arrested, charged and tried, if found guilty a minimum sentance applied.

Dom't interfere unless absolutely necessary (mass genocide for example) in other countries disputes, unless we have a cohesive plan for the aftermath. And don't do this by arming a number of factions without a due diligence, so it doesn't bite us on the arse later. (syrian anti-government groups sell ammunitions we supply to isis regulary unofficially)

As a last resort when necessary lethal force.

the thing is these animals that have carried these terrible actions recently were apparently on a watch list.

What fucking good did that do then.
Maybe if you can get yourself onto a watch list you should be in prison.
And before people come up with human rights or any of that bollocks.
I don't care these are innocent people been killed and the government need to take a hard stand.
Maybe if they had taken a harder stand before there wouldnt be so many of them living here in the first place

There was an expert on the radio before - he said the reason people are 'watched' and not charged is that a lot of the evidence is inadmissible as taking it to court could risk other operations and witnesses

He suggested the evidence gathered should be given to a judge in a secret 'court' and a let him make up his mind

You prevent it by not bombing the middle east and treating it like it's a treasured prize for the Western/ "civilised" world to be had.
Could/should've stayed out but the lure of oil was just too hard to stay away .
And now we simply was our hands in ignorant innocence and conveniently blame Islam, whilst forgetting that this is actually blowback from former and ongoing imperialistic follies.

Monitoring internet activity to see which people are constantly visiting ISIS and radicalistic web sites, then monitor their mobile phones, then monitor their e-mails,etc. This is probably going on already but it should be taken more seriously.

Monitoring trips to Syria and so on. Fly once to Syria, put on them watch list immediately. Life sentence for anyone even attempting to commit an act of terrorism.

I believe the man who was responsible for the Berlin attack was already on the radar of authorities, they could of done more.

Its ridiculous that even after a massive attack like the one in Paris in which 130+ people were killed these acts are still going on. That should of been a wake up call yet nothing has changed.
