How do we put the fans back in football?

I don't see all the fuss about ticket prices being the answer.

We average 53k now with prices as they are so why would our club consider reducing prices.

Football is still booming.

I think fans need to look at themselves also. We are the ones who should make the atmosphere and get a buzz going.

When I was a kid it was 2 shillings and 6 pence to go in the old scoreboard end and 3 shillings to go in the kippax. This was just before decimalisation. I could do one game a week on my spends but had to either do caddying or hope my dad would give me some extra if we had a midweek game.

No idea how much of a percentage of the average wage it is to attend a game now in comparison to then or kids average pocket money but I am sure someone knows.

Safestanding at an affordable price for all age groups.

Stop making the concourse into a "food hall" with TV's on the wall and a betting box every 10m. We are hear to watch football, we have far to many distractions now, fans would rather finish their pint & look at their betting slips on the concourse while the game is actually live on the pitch.

Better bond between players and fans.

Less 12pm KO's and 5,30pm KO's ( near impossible I guess as sky & BT rules )

But work needs to come from fans themselves to get footy back supported as it once was, we have changed why we go to football as fans.

Cheaper tickets is the answer. How many times have we seen it where city have put tickets for a tenner for a midweek league cup match and we then have an unexpectedly high attendance and then struggle to fill a champions league game where a ticket is 4 times the price.

Correct. There are other factors but this is the most relevant.
In my opinion the club have got a lot richer but the fans haven’t. We still have that core working class fan base that simply can’t afford to attend the sheer amount of games that City play no matter how high profile they are.

The best atmosphere at the new stadium was Hamburg at home. Incredible buzz and huge vocal backing- tickets were a fiver that night

Yep, I was there. Had forgotten the price though!

Everyone bleats about the price of tickets. I wonder what the 2/6 Of the 60's is in respect to today's money? I used to go without a lot of things to go to the game. Today most people will not go without to go to a game. They complain about the price of food and drink in the stadium so go without or get something outside or bring a butty. If you are coming straight from work there are plenty of places to get food.

Cheaper entry will not change the atmosphere in the stadium. The only people who can change that is you the supporter. It it's you who get to the stadium late after drinking in the bars and boozers and disappear under the stands 10 minutes before half time, appear late for the start and restart. Plenty of people in the stadium for every single game, it didn't stop us singing in the 60's when we were getting less than 20,000 a game. Got sod all to do with price. Is the atmosphere different when we sell League Cup tickets for a tenner? No didn't think so.

Cancelling SC if you can't get to every game? Thanks for that, I live 120 miles away on probably the worst journey possible, some of my mates in Kings Lynn and Norwich have it even worse.

It is the supporter in the stadium that make the atmosphere. Cheaper seats will not change that only the people in.

We've obviously got very different views on this.

You are right, but equally you have no way of knowing that it isn't because they can't be arsed either.

My view is based on the very strong correlation between the the number of empty seats and the opposition we are playing.

There are thousands of empty seats at many of our home games despite the games being apparently sold out. I think this contributes negatively to the atmosphere and I have put forward a suggestion to resolve that particular issue. You don't agree with it - fair enough.
Bit of a giveaway that. There'll be tons of empty seats on Wed. Poor weather, kids at school, work the next day etc, etc. However, if it was one of the big teams.....Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs....... it'd be full.

Away ticket ballots.
Ballot a percentage of away allocations to season ticket holders who apply for the ticket. Stop making it impossible for city fans under 50 to get away tickets.
