How do we resolve the Brexit mess?

I can't believe there are 543 pages on "does anyone think Brexit is a winner?".

It might be a good idea to lock this thread and re-open it after Brexit has happened - perhaps several years after, as any potential improvements won't occur the next day.

Brexit was all about getting control of our laws & our borders & our money, get back to me when that has happend.

So you want more migrants?
Want doesn't even come into it. As an aging population we need them. Having said that there is a (sensible) conversation to be had around control and criteria for immigration, but because idiots at both ends of the debate keep weaponising the issue for their own ends we can't do it.
Some people seem to imagine the country is split as per the Brexit vote on immigration, but I think most either welcome immigrants or don't care. Unfortunately the loudest voices are the rw/facist ones who want to send them all back and the totally unfettered free movement loons.

I think you’ll find that Brexit was about no longer being a member of the EU. If you look it up you’ll see that happened 3 years ago with all our membership benefits finishing 2 years ago.
All this bollocks about taking back control of laws, borders and money were soundbites for the gullible. We already had control of those things, and all Brexit has done has made it more difficult to maintain that control.

Can I ask which country is your country?
I said it before, I was born in Portugal and I'm living in Spain. To be specific, I consider Portugal my country, but much of the things I say can also be applied to Spain. Both are very similar countries.

pretty sure it's happened already mate, either that or the time I spent getting a residency permit for Germany was wasted

Sunak about to demonstrate how it doesn't work by trying get a lasting agreement that suits the GFA the Unionists the ERG the Republic etc etc - once again we will see that Brexit means something different to everyone who believes in it

Something we rarely talk about, because our media deliberately brushes it under the carpet, is that Brexit was all about the UK avoiding impending European anti-money laundering & tax avoidance legislation.
Circa 40% of the worlds money laundering is done through the square mile that is the actual City of London.
For those who don’t know, the square mile has different tax status to the rest of the UK which harks back to dispensations given following the Norman invasion in 1066.
It’s a serious issue, it allows the uber rich and criminal organisations (often one and the same) to move money secretly around the world and maintaining that status was the driver behind the massively expensive campaign of lies that preyed upon the racist tendencies of many of the poorest in society to bring about a vote that supported only the very rich.
As example, the UK had 9 of the poorest regions in Europe, they received massive support from the EU yet 8 of them voted to cut their funding off by voting for Brexit.
IMO akin to plucking their own eyes out with a pickle fork because some dude in a top hat told them it’d improve their vision.

Anyhow, I recommend a visit to YouTube and the entering of the words ‘City of London’ in the search bar. You’ll find a fascinating history leading to a terrifying situation that our media (owned by the rich or controlled by the government - which is in turn controlled by the rich) turns a very deliberate blind eye to.

Get in there and enjoy . . in a terrified kind of way.
