How do we resolve the Brexit mess?

I always wondered what the likes of the ERG, or their like, wanted from Brexit, such as selling off the NHS, and now we seem to be seeing the answer. It’s not just the NHS, it’s everything, isn’t it. They want to be rid of every EU regulation, anything that restricts them such as the ECHR. They want to take us back to the days where they can do and say whatever they want, lording it over the ‘workers’ who will be recompensed with the crumbs from the table.

It‘s hard to say but the elite really did make the turkey’s vote for Christmas. I wonder if we’ll wake up before we lay sprawled out, legs akimbo, on the proverbial dinner table?
I don’t think it’s quite a simple as you suggest. Some people on a fundamental and visceral (as well as unrealistic and utterly misguided) level simply don’t want other countries to have a say about how we run our affairs. It’s an evangelical point of view that no amount of logic and common sense will ever shake. I think many in the ERG (and their like) genuinely hold this (from my point of view, bizarre) belief. To say it’s all about the exploitation of working class people is overly simplistic.

It sure is overly simplistic but it was also very early in the morning to give a lengthy post ;-)

Yup they are throwing human and workers rights law laid out by the EU and chucking them on the bonfire. They want deregulation to come in to play in all aspects of life in the U.K. for them and their cronies to make money. They wanted the utopia of Singapore on Thames. Instead we have high inflation and an economy that will stagnate for a bare minimum of the next five years, at the same time public services will crumble due to lack of investment.

Brexit is now in the process of dismantling the Govt - Sunak shit scared of a Home Sec resigning ( the worst Home Sec in history ) and the return of Johnson based on the fact that Johnson is supporting the idea that a deal Johnson himself did is shit and so Johnson wants to come back and fix the problems Johnson himself created.

In polls today voting intentions for a GE have seen Tory support descend to sub 25% with Labour almost 30 points ahead. An issue that began 40 years ago and has dogged them is about to blow them apart

The fundamental problem with brexiteers is they always know what they don't want or what they can't accept. But they expect other people to pick up the pieces and make something work.

It's risen it's ugly head as Sunak has looked to quietly do a deal that would make things better. Surprise surprise the loonies won't have it.

The long term answer is the loonies have to go.

Voter suppression? That's a Tory ploy.
I always said Labour should have not tried to be anti Brexit but to run with it.
Labour would have delivered a very different Brexit. A more pragmatic one that would work.
Not the mess we have now.
Labour screwed up in my opinion.
Many on the left supported Lexit but it never got delivered.

This is just more fantasy.

We know Brexit is mad and damaging, so we'll go to the country saying we'll carry on with the madness when most of our voters would want us to stop it (indeed most voters full stop).

Leftifts supporting Brexit was part of the 51%.
