How do we resolve the Brexit mess?

Not a hope. Even in the unlikely event that there was political consensus to rejoin in that timeframe within the UK, you'd need votes from 27 countries within the EU, you wouldn't get 5.

I think much depends on who wins the Tory Civil War after the GE.

If the sane Tories win, I'd not be surprised if they moved to a pro-EU position, because they are pragmatists. Winning is more important than consistency or principles.

If the nutters (e.g. Braverman and her ilk) win, then the Tories will almost certainly be doomed to futile obscurity for a generation. But they will command the loyalty of the declining band of Brexit obsessives who hate foreigners and wonder why the cotton mills closed down.

Have any prominent leavers on here admitted their regret at voting for Brexit? It still amazes me how many stick their head in the sand or are just so stubborn to not admit it’s made all our lives worse (except for those select few at the top who have made millions off it)
