How do we resolve the Brexit mess?

They aren’t nice to their own people. It’s a tall order to try and get them to be nice to others.
This is true but if they want to be left alone not being nice to their own people then the best way would be to be nice internationally so countries are reluctant to interfere with them domestcally. That's my thinking anyway.

I think any nation that see itself as a regional and potentially world superpower like China will always try to be a bit of a bully and leverage its position to maximize its interest.

It's like expecting large corporations to regulate themselves, when people have the power they use it.

How about this as Labour's stance?

“We will seek the best deal possible as we negotiate a new agreement with the European Union. I want that deal to reflect the kind of mature, cooperative relationship that close friends and allies enjoy. I want it to include cooperation on law enforcement and counter-terrorism work. I want it to involve free trade, in goods and services. I want it to give British companies the maximum freedom to trade and operate in the Single Market and let European businesses do the same here."

It depends on what you mean by 'free trade'.

To me, it means what we had before Brexit, and that means accepting the EU Freedoms.

Johnson's 'deal' allegedly gives us 'free trade' but it's not what I regard as such. Not by a long chalk.

There's the Tory election slogan.

Vote Tory to stop Brexit being undone.
