How do we resolve the Brexit mess?

Indeed. My cousin voted for Brexit from his place of residence in Tenerife, completely oblivious to the irony involved.
I have a place there, lived there for many years in the past and still a frequent visitor and it’s safe to say it’s dawned on many of them that they’ve shot themselves in the foot. Unfortunately a fair few are retired expats who don’t rely too much on a buoyant economy due to being retired and getting their pensions regardless.

Brexit has been and was always gonna be a disaster.

My wife has had a shop ( florist) for the last 10 years, it's been very hard work on her behalf, proper blood, sweat n tears, never been massive profits but tidy enough, but she's had to make a decision thats broken her.
Come January she's closing up, having to lay 3 girls off, which has massive consequences on there lives.
Everything has gone up, energy, fuel, rent the lot, the VAT man is crippling her, but the biggest increase is the cost of the flowers, we were comparing her Xmas order from 2 years ago to the one she placed yesterday, its more than double, red roses were 60p a stem, now £1.25, the Dutch lads said its the same everywhere, quite as fuck, the import costs are through the roof and that's all to do with Brexit, it's only one small shop but the cluster fuck caused by Brexit its one of many, goodbye to the high Street.

We lost our High Street florists last year - the volumes the sold had dwindled and the costs had increased which meant the truck from the continent said it was no longer viable to deliver to them - that was the end for them.

Did he get kicked out?
If I haven’t been kicked out yet I doubt many others will have…

Well, apart from the ones who were unable to obtain TIE cards and suddenly found themselves only being able to do 90 days. Which ironically is where a lot of the more stupid Brexit voters have found themselves. Shame.

I assumed he was stupid but just not sure how far gone.

Where do you stand on healthcare? Does the Spanish system cover you with a TIE card? Does that count when you are retired?

We've got various suppliers, the Dutch lads were always cheaper and better quality, bought at the auctions in Holland on a Monday, in the shop on Tuesday.
She's seen sales slow down with the cost of living crisis, but they've fell off a cliffe since liz Truss mini budget and the tsanami that followed, the public are scared, flowers are a bit of a luxury, food and warmth are a priority.

Ah Liz Truss , the giftedf Tory luminary currently skulking out of sight after fucking the UK economy up before her furniture had arrived in Dowing Street.

Another Tory **** elevated to a position way above their level of competence.

I go private but all my employees are covered with their work contacts. They receive a SIP card that entitles them to healthcare. Retiree’s can obtain a SIP card if they have their NIE number and pay into the system.
My social security bill each month all across the bars I have an interest in in Spain is eye watering. For many years people got away with offering 5/10 hour contracts whilst making their staff work 40/50 hours. I never have, everyone gets the contract for the hours they work. Covid soon put a stop to that though as the Erte (Spanish furlough) only paid out on the contract hours and it left many fucked and in severe financial trouble. Some were only getting 60 euros a month. For once in a long long time the workers are getting looked after because there’s such a shortage of Labour and getting good staff is not easy. Those who haven’t had to leave due to Brexit are getting what they deserve, finally.

Went to London last weekend. Ate in four restaurants. One in each of Chelsea, the City, the West End and Shoreditch. So a pretty broad mix of decent, but not top end restaurants.

Discernibly higher proportion of waiting staff from the Indian sub-continent than last time i spent a weekend in the Capital. Less Eastern Europeans, obviously.

Not sure those racists who voted for Brexit thought this through.

At least that awful woman who asked on Question Time ‘who is going to serve us in Pret?’ has now got her answer.

The West End was horrendous after the game on Saturday btw. Saw at least three affrays in a couple of minutes while walking through. Old Bill looked pretty overwhelmed. Lots of stupidly pissed people. After an England World Cup game, which we lost, played on a Saturday night, in December!

Who’d have thunk it?!

I was in London the same weekend and we were discussing it. Even the pubs are now staffed with Indians. The UK is bending over backwards to get any kind of trade deal with India and in return all they want is visas.

Which is what we all pointed out would happen before the referendum- with every country who we strike a deal with.

Project Fear mate - we were all baying at the moon whilst the numbskulls who just wanted forriners out clearly didn't think anything through

Two brunch, two evening meals. Correction on Honey and Co, (which was the best) Camden, not the City, although close enough. Dishoom was the Shoreditch one.
