How do we resolve the Brexit mess?

Mr Sunak says he has "protected the balance" in the deal for having trade open across the Irish Sea and the border on the island of Ireland.

Mr Sunak is then asked if the deal has made him rethink the UK's membership of the single market - he dodges the question.

Bottom line is he burned our house down but saved the goldfish in its bowl and wants praise for that - of course he won't answer any questions about how the fire started

Pity we don’t have the same benefits

I sometimes wonder if they realise what they are saying or can even grasp where the logic of this statement takes you.

At least some shafts of reality are breaking through, but, you have to marvel at the amount of time and resource the British State has expended on the delusion of Brexit in the last seven years.

Someone said yesterday (can't remember who/where) that Sunak's Windsor Agreement is something the EU offered some years back.

Does it differ from such a previous offer, and if so, how much?

when you have been a senior member of a government that has spent best part of a decade spewing lies I suspect they just open their gobs and the lies just tumble out so they are probably unaware of what they are saying

Looks like Super Rishi has a Kryptonite...

I think we need to differentiate between time and resources, Bob!

This is why I have some difficulty recognising the difference between a politician and a burgler.

Sounds great, maybe we should all have access to this?..................

I’m being flippant and haven’t really thought this through, but it occurred to me that somewhere in all of this, which the DUP are going to love, is a blueprint for a 32 county Ireland. Whether a republic or federal, is another question, but bare with me.

You can see with this new protocol, which the EU sort of wanted in the first place, that the UK government are not going to give a toss what happens to red channel goods going into NI, it’ll be the EU’s concern to check them coming into Ireland. Similarly the UK government won’t concern themselves with green channel goods that should be red channel and are then illegally shifted across the border. Let the Assembly that will no doubt be up and running ;-) work that out with their neighbours i.e. us.

So what would a perfect solution be for the EU.
I don’t know, maybe if all of Ireland had the same special relationship with the UK. It would solve a lot of problems.
Slippery slope? Maybe but for who? Sinn Fein or the DUP?

As I say I’m being flippant but there is quite a lot to think through in there.
Not just for Northern Irish people, but us down south too.
You lot in GB wouldn’t give a toss one way or the other, I’m guessing.
