How do we resolve the Brexit mess?

Would have thought the U.K. could have cut such a deal with the Americans already, now that it’s free from encumbrances.

If it was still Trump and Johnson a deal would have been done where Johnson bent us over to be dry bummed by the States so he could shout about having got a deal. But it was Biden - and Biden hates Johnson with his every fibre because of Johnsons previous racist comments about his mate President Obama's ethnicity. SO as long as it was Johnson there were never going to be any talks.

Then there was Truss - a fleeting skip fire that the Americans must have watched in disbelief and now we have Sunak. Thing is they can see the damage to our economy done by Brexit - how its losses pile up and how we are unable to grow as companies pull out or just decide to locate in the EU rather than the UK. The US administration has more interest in the EU market - its bigger and more vibrant with far more people to sell stuff too.

America can deal with them and just pass us by and like an asset stripper wait until we are in a state and cut us a shitty deal thats all in their favour with a promise that they will keep our heads above water....... just

Tragically accurate, and takes me back to my previous contribution.
If only there had been some way to predict this.

The damage this fucking abortion has done to our international standing is immeasurable.
Sadly it looks like we’ve far from scraped the bottom of the barrel yet with a succession of conmen still desperately trying to convince the people how they’re going to benefit from it all. It’d be quite funny if it wasn’t so fucking tragic.

I rather suspect that this will be the case. The US and EU will carve up the car, battery, steel, and other green technologies between them, with the U.K. eating the fallen crumbs.

No, no , no, you naysayer.
We have an opportunity, now we are free from EU interference, to use our nimbleness to take back control of our crumb industry.

if you collect enough crumbs can you squeeze them together to make a muffin....or a barm......or a breadcake....

Nobody voted for the bastardized stripped down version of brexit we have. You don't judge a sunday dinner missing key components from the plate.

Silly thread really.

Nobody voted for any particular sort of Brexit during the referendum.

People voted for exactly the Brexit we got in the 2019 election - Johnson's oven ready deal (that didn't work) was a conservative manifesto promise. In other words, they voted exactly for the bastardized stripped down version of Brexit that we have because that is precisely what Boris promised he would deliver.

Nobody voted for the Windsor framework mind...

You conflating the referendum and the 2019 election. Rather a reach given the can kicking in between.

By the time 2019 rolled around people wanted any resolution better than what TM was shitting up...boris deal was the only thing on offer. But we could have gone the option of no deal had the politicians truly served the will of the people. No deal WAS brexit.

The corrupt political class were never going to allow that.
