he "wants to make Brexit work" - he wants to work more closely with the EU on trade - well documented and I suspect are holding patterns until they win a GE. I suspect a GE will revolve around - " aren't they shit and despite numbers from the Rishi geek are you actually better off" - then reset after a win see how successful they have been and then set an agenda. Standard political practise.

It‘s a sad state of affairs that we cannot have a GE based on what is right or wrong for the country, even worse that some, right or left, would weaponise such an important issue, leading to such a stand-off.

We know that Starmer wants to move closer to the EU, are you in agreement?

Its up there with Harry Redknapp who ended up with zero money in " Who wants to be a millionare" even though clarkson gave him loads of hints to the corct answer

It is what I do because I don't trust him. Did you trust Johnson? They're both massive liars. We had the GE based on what was right or wrong for the country and the fucking idiots went with the actual racist, twice!

In answer to your question, yes. I voted to remain. Starmer used it as a means to gain power.

Listened to the radio yesterday and there was a retired lady on complaining about Brexit, which she voted for. She spends much of her time staying in a friends home abroad but cannot do so anymore due to the new time restrictions and now has to split it with time away with the family. There was no reason given for her voting Brexit but she did say that she wasn’t told that she would be impacted by such regulations and also mentioned that she was expecting £350 mil into the NHS every week. Given the chance, she would now vote to remain.

Just goes to show how people were easily manipulated into voting against their own interests and politicians like Corbyn just stood by and allowed it to happen, probably because he was happy with the situation. And that, along with his his absolute failure in the GE, led to a change in the Labour ranks and regardless of how it was done, he had to go.

All’s fair in love and war, as they say, and Corbyn was rightly ousted in a manner that was befitting of his failed leadership.

As for Starmer, we can only trust in what he actually achieves, and that can’t happen unless he gets into No 10.

I think corbyns fairly ambivalent stance on the EU/brexit was informed by the generally Eurosceptic view of the left in the early 70s when it was the right wing that were campaigning for EEC membership. At that time the debate (plenty of footage on YouTube) was a lot more intelligent on both sides. Whatever their / your views on brexit I don't think we can really lay the blame at the door of Corbyn, and you may wish to revisit who it was that formulated labours Brexit policy prior to the 2019 GE. I'll give you a clue - it involved sitting on the fence and trying to be all things to all men, not holding an actual view.

What, it‘s now Starmer’s fault for the ‘leader’ of the Labour Party not fighting to remain? What a leader Corbyn must’ve been.

I‘ve no love lost for Starmer and I preferred Corbyn’s policies on stuff that mattered, but that’s bye the bye as we now live in a country that has rapidly deteriorated in the eyes of the world, helped somewhat by Labours policy of sitting on its hands.

Last time I checked there was only one party in charge before, during and since Brexit. It'll be a neat trick indeed if the Tories manage to create the illusion that labour share the blame for the last ten years.

I am a firm believer that at a general election, you should be able to vote for a party that has a clear manifesto covering all the major issues and if voted in, will do their damnedest to deliver it for the electorate.

Its easier to identify what Tory policies Labour seem to agree with than discern what Starmer and his party actually are for.

He was in Scotland this week trying to whip up a bit of support. Despite all of the SNP's travails he won't get much leverage up here.
